https://www.barb.co.uk/viewing-data/weekly-viewing-summary/ Sky Box Office Events 118 0.20 775 1.29 0:02 0.13 Great numbers. Tony Bellew currently the 2nd biggest draw in British Boxing Pretty sure there were some people who tried claiming there was no hype for the fight and it was tracking low on PPV. One person even tried to claim pre fight buys were so low it was going to be moved to Sky Sports.
Haye isn't active anymore. No doubt he played a major part in the success of both fights but Bellew has become a star. That Goodison fight was huge for him!!!
Nice payday for both guys...hopefully Haye has enough to not need to fight again when his body clearly can’t hold up...
Say what you want about Eddie but he’s one hell of a salesman! Over 1.5 million buys for those two fights is outrageous.
In terms of entertainment, you have to say that Bellew’s last four performances have been very high for the casual fan. Although he’s been the type of fighter who’s adapted over his career and won ugly when he’s had to, these last four fights have involved him getting into a gunfight, swinging wildly...which was Haye’s undoing in the last fight. As Adam Booth said about Bellew after the Haye fight, ‘you don’t hook with a hooker and Bellew is one of the best at it’.
Bellew thanked Haye for the opportunity to financial secure his kids lives, I think in the first fight Haye was the main draw, quite obviously with Bellew saying that. Fighting Haye has raised his profile even more
Thing is mate Hayes movement was limited in the first fight, but the second fight his movement was horrific and all his leg would let him do is hook and jab. He couldn't spring in and surprise Bellew at all, imo he was a sitting duck..I wanted him to win bad Haye, followed him since the Ams, but really the money was to good to turn down and walk away. He wasn't and couldn't be fit to fight a world level operator at this stage, to injured
People paid to watch a fight - not a cripple in the ring twice simply to fleece the PPV mugs. Entertained LOL
