Cotto was a world 160 title holder from 2014 to 2015. Derevyanchenko turned pro in 2014. At what point in that time should GGG have fought Derevyanchenko? Stop showing yourself up.
This is one GREAT reason why I respect Bhop so much. He was clowned and ridiculed for fighting guys -people didn't want to see (rigged rankings?) Hop pleaded- judge my career when it is said and done, not before and after every fight. Hence..when I see posters who rag on Hop's resume- yeah some were lame, but he didnt call them out. Rankings told him who to fight or get stripped. He chose legacy -stating if I DONT fight their mandatory they will strip me and I am chasing history. I want to be like Monzon & Haglar; guys who ruled their division breaking records for title defenses. Only the era watching knows the challengers...decades later fans dont know all the names, just the main names. Hop knew this and so, to, does GGG...but he has made some wrong azz decisions and he is paying for it. Great fighter, bad decision maker.

Who said he had to? Golovkin was in the process of the Canelo negotiations, the Minute ODLH days the fight was dead he got stripped. Now considering Golovkin has yet to avoid a mandatory this is a bit harsh to strip as additional negotiations could have gone on between Derevyanchenko team and GGG's.

Cotto never once fought at 160 nor did he let his opponents fight at 160. GGG chasing the fight was at 160. When you call out a guy from another weight class , its on you to go to that weight class which would have been 156 or whatever mickey mouse class he and Canelo created. End of.
