In the wake of the Marciano v Quarry thread, I thought we could look at how Jerry does against some of Rocky's opponents?
    Lastarza 2nd Marciano fight
    Layne
    Cockell
As they were when Rocky fought them.15rds?
    How does the Irishman do?

Layne would be a tough fight for Jerry both were rugged guys toss-up, I think Jerry would take out DC, who was a little like a scrap Iron Johnson, tough fireplug it would be a lively bout before Jerry got him. La Starza was a good mover & had skills, Jerry didn't like movers close decision depends on what night. toss-up.

Quarry knocks out Cockell and Lastarza early....Layne in his prime is a tougher fighter for Quarry but I still think Jerry stops him late.

I would make Quarry favorite over all of them, but I could see him losing to Layne or LaStarza.

Interesting thread never thought of these match up before. All about the same size and world class I think they are all pretty much 50-50 tbh

If your basing them predictions in a 1 round stoppage win over Shavers then I'd say your selling Lastarza and Cocknell very short. I'd make him favourite over all 3 and I'm struggling to see how Cocknell would best Jerry, but Layne and Lastarza both have a chance to cause an upset.

I would expect Quarry to beat them all inside the distance.

Yeah I’d favor Quarry in any of these fights individually, and he surely beats Cockell every time, but Jerry was inconsistent and I figure if he fought all three he’d find a way to lose to Layne or LaStarza.

I like Quarry to decision Cockell and stop Layne late but LaStarza is the dilemma his counterpunching boxing style is similar to the pre heavy tourney Quarry and I don't see him switching roles with Quarry forcing Jerry to try to fight a guy who doesn't like to fight and Quarry didn't have the constant pressure, power and stalking skills of Marciano yes as good as Quarry was Marciano was better in that dept and that is what it took to beat prime LaStarza but he might be able to box with him well enough to pull a SD since I think Patterson was a faster fighter and Quarry did OK with him....Patterson was far more aggressive which gave Jerry enough t fight and counter off of I think I would take JQ in a Dec. if not a SD

Lastarza is getting way too much respect here. In his prime, he got dominated by rocky Jones and was on his way to getting dominated in the rematch except the mob ordered Jones to “cool it” in between rounds 2 and 3 and he was put on the cuffs the rest of the fight. They made sure lastarza Marciano II planned title fight wouldn’t be spoiled.

Lastarza was over protected his whole career. Turned down fight after fight with top contenders, and road the coat tails off a green Marciano controversial loss.

Quarry was the much better proven fighter against much better competition. Quarry beat better boxers and better punchers than lastarza. Quarry knocks him out

He beats them all .Cockell gets stopped mid fight. Layne and Lastarza lose by decision.
