    Giving Parker the edge.

They both have a reference point to judge both against in AJ. Parker was a closer fight, although Joshua was more reckless in his fight with Whyte.

Both have good chins. Should be wild both like to move forward. Can't wait.

It's a gamble by Hearn, I feel. Everything he does in the HW division is geared to AJ, and he's already running out of relevant opponents not called Wilder. Once Povetkin is dealt with, and presuming the WIlder fight will continue to be tough to make, then who? He needs fall-back options for reasons of negotiation leverage and Plan B should Wilder not be made.

Whyte 2 would be much bigger if he's got a win against Parker on his resume, and if Parker beats Whyte it keeps his name in lights - after all he's the only fighter to have gone the distance with AJ - so if he handles Whyte, maybe even stops him, then perhaps Parker 2 becomes an option? After all the casuals didn't see the best of Parker for myriad reasons.

And as a stand alone fight, without all the above taken into consideration, Hearn has fulfilled a PPV slot which he is obligated to do. His stable is a bit thin on PPV options at the moment, with Khan vs Brook still looking a long way off.

If you see this fight ticking both those boxes - PPV slot and creating (better) future options for AJ - it makes a little more sense.

can we please shut up about the score cards and ref in the Joshua Parker fight. Result was fair and yes the ref was crap but he didnt benefit either fighter, stop pretending that Joshua has no inside game just because he is tall.

Great fight this, could be a real slug fest, 2 tough men going at it. 50/50 for me may the best man win as i like both of them.

Parker on points unless they rob him on the score cards, he’s got more speed better foot work better skill better stamina than whyte and equal power.

I'm expecting to see 20 thread titles in CAPs when I wake up tomorrow about how Parker is going to brutalise Whyte.

IMO this is a very interesting fight. A long way back for the loser.

No way. This is no gamble by Hearn, especially when Parker would be the 70/30 favorite. Hearn and Higgins have hammered out a promotional deal where young kiwis who fight with Duco can fight on matchroom cards in the UK. If Parker beats Whyte, which he will be favoured, he will be co promoted by Hearn/Higgins, and when his Duco/Top Rank contract runs out shortly, Parker will be a Matchroom fighter on both US and UK promotions. Hearn isnt going to gamble away one of his biggest money spinners, hes just bringing Parker on board and away from Top Rank.

Interesting take and I agree with a lot of what you say. I guess the gamble would be if Whyte is dismantled. Hearn has been lining up AJ vs Whyte 2 for a good while and if he's blitzed by Parker that fight becomes a much tougher sell, especially as it was being lined up for PPV. Their beef might still be enough for Hearn to push it on the public but Whyte would probably need a couple of noteworthy wins before it can be made, especially if Parker was to put him to sleep....

Joshua vs Parker 2 or Joshua vs Whyte 2 will happen after he fights Povetkin imo.

Don't think they really want Wilder yet. Want him to decline before taking him.

I get that sense too - maybe not waiting for him to decline as such but more hoovering up as much money as possible before the risk is taken. The only issue is if someone else gets to Wilder and beats him before AJ takes the fight. I guess by pulling Parker close to Matchroom, Hearn can control his career too and minimise the risk of him taking Wilder's '0'.

When i heard the fight was anounced, my first thought was why Hearn would put Whyte in with Parker, it clicked instantly, he has Parker. Hearn makes a lot of money no matter how this fight pans out. If Parker destroys Whyte, AJ vs Parker 2 is on. With these mega streaming deals being anounced, its a race to monopolise the heavyweight division. Haymon has Wilder, Brezeale, Martin, Ortiz. Top Rank has Ruiz and Jennings (Options on Parker is US only). Hearn has AJ, Whyte, Miller, Allen, and now most likely Parker. Hearn keeps winning out with the free agents though, he has the most money and best rep. Haymon and Top Rank will keep drawing short straws in terms of quality opposition as long as outside guys like Takam, Povetkin and anyone else who wants to get paid keep going to Hearn.

Kiwi-In-America's MO :p. He took the Joshua loss on the chin to be fair though and he'd probably be right this time. I like Whyte, but I honestly feel he had a better chance at outworking an older guy like Ortiz or Pulev en-route to an iffy close decision than he does of beating Parker.

They're all more skilled than Whyte, but Parker's also considerably fresher and way more athletic, not something you could say about Ortiz or Pulev.

Hearn wants Joshua vs Whyte 2 after Povetkin. No matter what he says about Wilder.

Which also explains why AJ vs Wilder is such a tough fight to make...

Lol Joshua would whip Wilder tomorrow if he wanted, its simply about the money and the promotion. Hearn and Joshua are telling Wilder to accept their contract, fight in the UK, or jog on. Joshua can make a killing with or without Wilder regardless, hes the A side. Wilder cannot. Joshua and Hearn will just sit on their hands, keep stealing all the quality opponents away from Wilder through bigger paydays, until they grind Wilder down and he accepts. Hearn might still be holding out for him to fight Dillian Whyte first.
