Calzaghe was clearly streets ahead in terms of being a fighter, but who left the Greater legacy?

For me it's Wlad and quite easily, he was the dominant HW for a good while and it's hard to stay on top of the HW division for that long.

They both could destroy Andre Ward without any problem.

    muhaha

wlad managed to unify and defend a unified title, something joe couldnt beyond a tough bout with bika that scared him into dropping the belt pronto. Now WLad didnt really dominate long, but he did do it after his brother retired and that was a kind of dominance joe never accomplished beyond perhaps 40 minutes with kessler...and he only stepped up that time because kessler had just picked up an injury requiring surgery, or he never would have.

Its bizarre that Calzaghe facing a fortythrees years old man was conisdered a "step-up" over his ENTIRE CAREER. Just process that for a moment. IS there anyone in history for whom that statement is true?

Wlad has gone on record as not desiring to fighti a 40something ever, nevermind as his career best. Can you imagine a 35 year old Wlad saying "now i go to fight 43 year old man, dat will be my best opponent in my entire careeeers...oh crap dats embarrassing haha"

Wlad was better, and was game enough to step up, accept defeats and come back from them after simmering in misery for a while. Perhaps Joe didnt have the character to comeback from defeats, which is why he kept ot mean until the end of his career.
