I believe Jake said that Bob Satterfield hit him the hardest. He said it on a show called THE WAY IT WAS.

His nick name was the "Hatchet Man", wasn't it?

A small heavyweight, but he was more than likely a top 10-25 puncher at heavyweight all time... the epitome of a dangerous "glass cannon" sort of fighter.

No argument with Bob Satterfield. However when Jake fought Bob was still physically maturing and weighed on 165 lbs for the fight. Honorable mention to the fearless ex Marine and 2 x Purple Heart and Silver Star war veteran Danny Nardico. He was the only boxer to put Jake on the canvas. Danny said after WW 2 "Everything in life is easy "

Satterfied became noted for it, before or after Jake is a fair question, Satterfield soon became a L-HW cum HW and that's where his career was played out... mind you the fight with Jake would have been at Catchweights anyway... then theres,

    SRR
    Lloyd Marshall
Marcel Cerdan, who sadly wasn't able to execute his punching.
    Murphy has been mentioned
    and a few others too.

Jake gets a lot of passes and he was a great fighter (as were Thousands), but he also fought a lot of Welter cum Middles.

the point being, Whole Careers and Facts must be afforded all fighters and with the continued attempts at Achievement Based Ratings and placement so much gets overlooked or forgotten.

Contextually Jake is a great fighter, but overrated in view of many other better Overall Career considering fighters, i.e Robert Villemain who PROVED that!
