Fair enough. You didn't say they weren't, but you seemed to be suggesting that this era was better than the 70s and 90s. So, how would you rank the heavyweight eras? What would your top 10 decades look like? Perhaps we're not as far apart as I thought, based on how I perceived your insinuations.
On this note, I just have to say, the two top guys faced each other at various points throughout the 90s. Holyfield-Bowe I and the Holyfield-Lewis bouts being chief among them.
I wouldn't say this is a super stacked era ... but it is sort of well set up for the beginning of the 2020s to be an interesting time for the division. Many promising young and ex-Olympic fighters emerging, and some quality cruisers likely to move up next year. Plus maybe Fury being a factor. But I wish for Joshua/Wilder/Povetkin to play out sooner rather than later. Povetkin's lack of a top shelf match-up after his loss and the waiting for Wilder to step up saga has been a bit of a drag on the division IMO. But at least the when Haye comes back fully fit element is now out of the equation. So while I don't think the division is anything special now, it looks to be heading in the right direct and the early 2020s could be very cool.
Ive not once brought him up in this thread. How can I justify Uruk as a top heavyweight when he has yet to fight in said weight????? Also justify why Dubois, Arias, Morrison, Rock are top 20 heavyweight fighters or your thread is as I believe utter **** off a fanboy with an agenda which is what you are. As for Usyk he has skills that will allow him to be a successful heavyweight once he's faced Gassiev, he's already achieved more in his career than 99% of the fighters you named. So I ask you again to explain your top 20 rankings from 14 down..let's see if you finally can.
well your question going to be answered... Parker vs Whyte coming up...let's see if my rankings are correct right ?
Even with home advantage I was surprised to see the odds are so tight so at least the bookies share your faith in the Whyte boy. Credit to both for the fight getting made, was not expecting this at all.
Holyfield was not over Bowe, the top 2 viewed guys dominant HW's were Bowe and Lewis....you know this though! Most top guys fight each other at various points, this era is no different and most are still crying about nothing about fights that are actually happening!
This fight is going to be close.... I see Whyte really distancing himself after 7 rounds though! People can cry all they like but there's plenty of matches that are going to be made on MY list and that's that....lol Maybe including Usyk but????? I think guys like Sirenko plant him either way there's a good solid 5 years of matches at least if you like actual boxing! Obviously some have agendas on here we know who they are which they might as well not even come on my threads...lol
The 3 most stacked eras imop 1.90's 2. Present( including Klitchko vs Joshua) 3. 70's I think this one will surpass the 90's as it's a new era with by far a greater talent pool all around with more fighters and I believe Joshua will prove to be the guy to go u defeated a long time. Either way Fury looking like a beast, Wilder, Ortiz , Whyte, Povetkin, and Parker when was there this many guys at The top with ten more guys right behind them in 2 years? The 70's had Frazier,Foreman, Ali as the top guys carrying it...Nothing different then the big 3 now..Joshua, Wilder, Fury except these guys are undefeated. And dangerous and or extremely talented and still improving unlike Ali and Frazier at that time. Take a look at Izu and Breazeale fight these are the fights that are taking place, Chisora vs Whyte? Wilder vs Ortiz? If Breazeale ends up fighting Wilder do you think that will be boring? Povetkin vs AJ ? Joshua vs Wilder will be the biggest HW fight in history if it's not next and both win! Can you definitively say the 70's was better without nostalgia? Maybe you can buy i can't bc I'm looking at overall talent pool as a collective list coming up ! We even have social media today, can you imagine social media in the 90's? Don't you think that would have helped it also get the credit it deserved in real time ? We have that now and fans today still cry, I had to buy magazines or catch Tuesday night fights to get my boxing updates...lol It's all good that's why I created this thread some people just will always complain ! Reading some posts it's almost like theyre mad about a very exciting era...lol!
He sure looks it on the pads. I cant wait to see him fight the big names. Im not worried about this Seferi fight, probably catch the highlights on youtube but I hope he gets a good name opponent before the year ends.
The Nathan Gorman fight is the one to watch on the undercard... He's going to be a threat to, I think he's all around technically a top boxer right now , he doesn't have many weaknesses.
Parker vs Whyte.... Another great match up in a even fight on paper. i believe Whyte has all around the advantages to win , Parker has speed and chin but he's going to get hit a lot and I believe he will get out boxed and out brawled. This should result in a late possible stoppage. Whyte is showing level jumps despite his competition and Parker has yet to show his actual potential . I'm going Whyte TKO round 12.
