Calzaghe vs Ward break down of strengths? Very even across board

sure h2h would be a tight fight, one of wards top five fights for sure.

and easily joes biggest fight by a mile, with the 43 year old guy 2nd to it.

 

Kovalev that fought Ward would have executed Calzaghe.

 

yeh this is obvious, no need to say it, if joe needs to lowblow to save himself getting koed easrly by a 43 year old LHW.

 

I like Ward outside the ring, in it, he was a rule bender / fouler when he needed to be.

 

I have always favored Calzaghe at SMW by a close decision due to his work rate. One of those fights where you could argue Ward won, but the punch output would favor Joe.

I may favor Ward at LHW though.

I honestly believe that Ward wouldn't be able to deal with Calzaghe's workrate over 12. Sheesh, imagine how much spoiling Ward would try to do?

 

Work rate only works against non elite. Even an ancient Bernard Hopkins reduced rate Zaghe's output in their fight. We're talking about a prime Ward here, not some 44 year old man.

 

Calzaghe is not stronger than Ward. It's not just an opinion, its a fact

 

I don't think Calzaghe would have fought him Kovalev, even with the crown jewel on the line.

 

Pundits said Calzaghe looked bad v Bika and that Hopkins copied Bika`s tactics to good effect, I have a film study of Ward v Bika and he was brilliant, the shot that first put a tired Kov in trouble in his second fight with Ward was harder than any punch I ever saw Joe throw aside from his first round knockdown Chris Eubank, also the body attack Ward used on Kov made him gas because the punches had sting, Joe never displayed a solid body attack aside from straight scoring punches, but these punches didn`t crunch like Ward`s did.

Even fight for me. Would favour a prime Calzaghe over a prime Ward just because Ward would never stop Calzaghe in a million years and think Calzaghe might pull away later rounds on points just with the high out put.
