Fight was a complete joke. Tyson treated it as such.

Basically because he went on a food/booze/coke binge his defenders are saying any result other than Tyson getting knocked out by a 5-foot-9 cruiserweight who didnt throw a single proper punch (nor show that he knew how to do so) is a good result.

OK, nice standards you got there.

    It was a joke.

You can't defend it, not to mention fixed.

Neither fighters took the fight in a serious professional manner, it was a freak show.

All these sob stories about fury from his groupies, about him being on coke binges, ballooning up to 300lbs as if he was held against his will in some clock work orange type experiment where men in white coats where forcibly stuffing donuts, booze and drugs down his throat whilst strapped to a chair, doesn't wash with him.

If you're not ready don't come back and put a stain on the sport. Keep training until you are ready to fight a decent opponent who you will take seriously.

if he wanted to do it in a small gym, no tv, then fine. but charging anyone for this farce was unforgivable.

I defended Fury's opponent before the fight and understood the reason behind taking such an easy opponent. However for both fighters to treat it like an exhibition fight to the point where they are literally laughing and joking around with each other in the ring, you can't defend it unless like you said, it was free entry and not promoted as a legitimate televised main event.

It's a waste of everyone's time really. What did Fury learn from that that he couldn't have learnt from sparring one of his mates in the gym?

''He got rounds in'' they say. You get rounds in sparring.

The point of a competitive fight is for it to be competitive to some degree.

The competitive nature of the fight was completely taken out the moment they kissed and because both fighters were more interested in being cute and funny than actually trying to win.

The card would have been televised regardless so having Fury on it was an added bonus. You could see from the ringwalk that there was a healthy amount of hype and demand for his return.

I'm not really sure what some people were expecting for his first fight back. If you thought this was anything other an exhibition where an opponent was brought in to lose to just give Fury a few rounds then your living in a world of fantasy.

People will say that it shouldn't of been a headline fight or even anything other than a low key gym session but getting Fury back in the ring was more than just about blowing away some ring rust. It's about PR and announcing his return to build a Joshua fight, it's about getting Tyson back into experiencing what a real fight feels like again, it's about going into a camp again and training and focusing towards a specific opponent and experiencing what it's like to fight in front of a crowd again and to fight under some kind of pressure.

Yes this guy was over matched but it's very different stepping into a ring for sparring where what happens doesn't matter compared to stepping into a ring in front of thousands in the crowd, perhaps millions on TV and knowing you're expected to impress. Tyson needed to feel that again, to get comfortable again with fighting he's been inactive for a long, long time.
