Saul Alvarez V Emile Griffith?

Emile gets to fight at junior middle ,challenging Alvarez .15 rounds ??

 

I think Canelo would overpower Griffith like Carter did, I feel the shots Canelo hit GGG with would of had Griffith in trouble.

 

If they fought a 10 fight series, Canelo may get lucky and win one of them. Otherwise Griffith boxes circles around Canelo for a wide UD all night long.

 

Alvarez had trouble with Austin Trout. Since though he has impressed with greater exp Canelo. Alvarez is a weight bully and Emile wasn't a big JMW and Alvarez more likely come in fight time close to 170 lbs. Alvarez edges Griffith in a controversial dec once again and like Trout Griffith is denied a rematch and avoided.

 

I just noticed this said 15 rounds. If that is the case, I would not be surprised to see the oft-tired Canelo running out of gas and being stopped on his feet late.

 

That fight with Carter was a fluke. Never happened to Griffith either before or after that fight. Griffith fought bigger and stronger punchers than Canelo (Monzon, Tiger, Briscoe) without being stopped. If anybody is getting stopped here, it is Canelo who has documented stamina problems (in spite of PED use)

 

This sounds very plausible Jup.

 

Griffith would kick Canelo's ass.

Griffith learned from the Carter fight, and beat D.Tiger twice, plus was competitive with Monzon who was huge.. Saul might be surprised when Griffith starts pushing him around the ring.

 

Griffith beats the #### out of Canelo and stops him in the championship rounds.

 

Emile Griffith would have outclassed Saul Alvarez...completely outclassed him. Any doubts? Just watch Griffith-Tiger l. Alvarez doesn't compare to the greats that Griffith fought....and the thread question also makes it a 15 rounder, lol. Griffith was perhaps one of the greatest 15 round fights...and Canelo has stamina issues with the minor league 12 round distance, as you must realize. Even if, for the sake of argument, Griffith had one of those spells where he became too detached and "wandered off" during the fight..(driving Gil Clancy insane)...he would still, even then, on "automatic pilot" have enough to soundly defeat Alvarez. Griffith was immensely strong,...more so that the Mexican redhead. He would have outstrengthed him easily...much like he did the great Tiger-man at times...and had many times more savvy and experience. and subtle skills in his repertoire to make this one "just another day at the office"...

 

Griffith-Carter was indeed a fluke...and it amuses me that ignorant fans get so carried away by that fight. Just flash forward from that 1963 fight to 1966 and that performance Griffith graced us with vs Tiger...no comparison. A rematch would have settled it with Griffith soundly outpointing his one time conqueror by a clear decision.

 

Monzon, Tiger, Briscoe, Benvenuti,...just compare them to Alvarez...what a joke to think that Canelo even merits consideration.

 

I think Alvarez would get mugged in this one.
An offensive fighter with speed, accuracy and footwork, Emile Griffith is just a nightmare for Canelo.
