22 years old. Has been fighting as a pro since he was 16. Has fought entirely in Mexico at lower level events. His fights have gone the distance in 7 or his last 9 against mediocre comp. A fighter only has so much time. He should be maximizing his ability to earn. Spence should not be fighting this guy.

Ocampo's also the IBF mandatory, and has been since Ponomarev opted out of an eliminator that was scheduled to take place btx Ocampo and KP in Mexico.

Spence fights his mandatory or loses his belt (and leverage in the division). He doesn't have much choice. Plus, he's staying busy and that's a good thing.

I hear you. I just hate these kinds of lopsided fights. It is almost like what is the point? Ocampo has no business being in there with someone the caliber of Spence. This is when these sanctioning bodies look silly and irrelevant.

On the one hand, I agree that Ocampo shouldn't have been in position to become a mandatory.

On the other, when viewed as a showcase/homecoming fight (fulfilling the mandatory obligation to boot) in a year where Spence can fights three times, it's not that bad of a fight to take...As long as he fights a solid guy in his next outing.

Plus, The undercard features Roman vs Flores and Alexander vs Ortiz, so on the whole, it's a card worth watching, imo.

Like I said, he had no business being in the ring with Spence and these sanctioning bodies discredit themselves when they do this kind of stuff.

To young for the Roycott days?
They were dark times my friend.

Just another example of an extremely overmatched IBF mandatory.

Am I the only one that thoguht Ocampo looks good for the first round? He was touching Spence a lot especially to the body. Maybe hurt him.

Body shot came out of no where.
    Nice tho

Just a stay busy fight for Spence.
Haymon needs to bring him back in August against Vargas.
