Can we stop it with the heavyweight threads? Just for a few days even?

No problem. Find some fair opponents for Dempsey, Marciano and co. and voila, problem solved.

There's no doubt Willard underrated Dempsey as a puncher.
He should have known better after Dempsey destroyed a tall fighter whom clowned Willard in sparring

I can't see Jack attacking George Foreman and surviving, there could be so incredible moments but George in 2

Actually Firpo went in for the kill. Dempsey was the better fighter in every way, the better brawler. Dempsey fought Firpo what else should he have done, ran for 10 rounds and risk being caught with a punch he didn't see coming against a guy trying to kill him or use his inside fighting ability to rip body shots and beat the hell out of Firpo in 2?

The result: Firpo goes down 9 times in 3 minutes and 57 seconds.

Not without getting floored 3 times including knocked out of the ring, and a newsman had to lift Dempsey back into the ring..which is a violation of the rules

Dempsey was down 2 times. Nobody lifted Dempsey back into the ring, he was pushed off of their typewriters while kicking them in the face. The film shows Dempsey getting into the ring unaided.

Three times...he was down in the opening seconds when a Firpo right dropped Dempsey to his knee. He was down a second time when a Firpo right made Dempsey touch his glove to canvas, he was down a third time when he was knocked out of the ring

The film was edited, Dempsey was pushed back into the ring by a newsman which is a violation of the rules. A party must rise unassisted.
