By no means a complete fighter, but boy, could he whack. An edge of your seat fighter if there ever was one. Too bad there was a guy named Carlos coming along at the same time. Thoughts? This content is protected
I actually like Zamora more than Zarate, always have I love his style coupled with his only modest size at the weight, meant you were always going to see Zamora feverishly trying to work his way inside with those sledgehammer hands. The win over Pedroza is greatly undervalued in my opinion, a little green or not Zamora always possessed that level of one shot fight changing power and would be a threat to almost anyone with it.
I agree Russell,..that Pedroza wipeout is indeed undervalued...and ironically, it adds to Pedroza's stature and significance as a fighter as well...as in, just how in the hell did EP come back from and regroup from such a devastating defeat anyway. I also wonder how it would have gone between the best version of Zamora and peak Pedroza...I suspect Pedroza would have avenged this defeat, much like I think Emile Griffith would have avenged the Rublin Carter blowout...to use an example.
Here's your primer on committing to your hooks... Talk about punching thru your target... This content is protected
Damnnnn...that first sequence shows him utterly destroying Pedroza....it's as conclusive as you can get IMO.
Zamora like Jeff Fenech was never the same after losing his unbeaten streak by ko against a great fighter. However both Fenech and Zamora had one thing in common they both went out on their shield. Fenech 3 losses ( ko 3 x ) and Zamora 5 losses ( ko 4 1 disq ).
Wow! I'd forgot about this fight, good to see it again. His style was there for Zarate though. He is probably underrated in his prime , its just that Carlos shortened it
