If GGG won the first fight on the cards would you have wanted to see a rematch?

Had the judges seen the fight the same way the vast majority of boxing fans and pundits saw the fight and scored the fight for Golovkin would you have considered the bout competitive enough to warrant a rematch?

Would there have been such strong calls for a return? Canelo fans who think he won the first fight would obviously have called for a second fight but what about everyone else?

I actually think Canelo did enough things right the first time to suggest he could produce a better performance against the ageing Golovkin. Sometimes fights are about timing as much as anything else and a rematch would have been interesting to me should Golovkin been given the W.

I think a 116-112, 115-113, 115-113 UD for Golovkin wouldn’t have warranted a rematch, but one would have been acceptable.

Whatever happens in the rematch doesn’t negate the pisspoor judging displayed in the first fight.

i guess people wouldve liked to see it if ggg got the win he deserved. As a ggg fan myself im 50 50 on the rematch not because im worried about canelo but its the vegas/judges thing. Can ggg ko canelo .. yes of course he can but no man let alone a champion have to go into a fight having to ko somebody.

Why do you say of coarse he can, Canelo`s chin was awesome aided by the fact that he was riding the shots well and wasn`t taking too many either?!

I dont think so. I wouldnt be demanding or wishing for it although if that scenario had happened id certainly watch it, i really enjoyed the 1st one. In my opinion Golovkin won clearly in a very hard fought fight and Canelo did the very best he could do i struggle to see what Canelo can improve on only the hope Golovkin has declined some since the last one.

Yes there should be a rematch I was impressed with Canelo in their first bout and I am curious to see if GGG has aged much by the time the rematch comes, sometimes you become shot overnight, in fact I think Canelo could make it close enough for a rubber match down the line and by then GGG will really start to age, father time is ticking and Canelo is peaking.

I thought Golovkin did win the first fight. It was a close fight though.
If either had lost, they definitely would've been deserving of a rematch.
Golovkin IMO won off the strength of his jab when Canelo's excellent upper
body movement and combination punching made his other offense look quite "off" at times. It was a good fight.

    No

But after he got jobbed, yes

He puts him away this time unless he got old overnight, then keeps cleaning out the division

Murata, BJS, maybe whoever wins the IBF, etc

So he'll win unless he loses? but if he loses, it won't be because he lost, it'll be because he got old overnight, which wouldn't have anything to do with Canelo.

Good question, and yes I would have wanted a rematch.

    - But not until AFTER Golovkin faced BJS, Charlo and Derevyanchenko.

Like the first fight if the fight goes 12 the judges will favor Canelo AGAIN!!! regardless

yes. i think we are seeing a passing of the torch and canelo will bring the biggest spotlight to the division, so he deserves the torch, till someone can take it from him in the ring. hopefully ggg gets a rubber match so his grandkids never have to worry about money thanks to gggg (grandpa gennady gennadyevich golovkin).

Good point, you won’t hear that from me should he lose as he didn’t look old against Vanes did he,in any case with the way he fights, stalking his opponents ect I’m not sure it matters?
