Lewis decides to keep fighting after beating Vitali, and faces the Nigerian Nightmare. I actually give Peter a decent chance at pulling off the upset. Lewis was past it by this time, and Peter could punch. I'd still favor Lewis, though.
Probably looks a lot like Lewis-Grant. If Lewis is even remotely in shape, he decapitates the crude Peter. Lewis is 10 times the boxer and fighter than Peter. And, unlike Wlad, he does not fight passively when facing a puncher. (And, for the record, I am not a big fan of Lewis)
You'd have to fancy Lewis but that said, he was slipped from his prime and Peter could destroy anything he could land on. Not sure I'd put money on this.
Peter doesnt have the footspeed or handspeed. Its the tua fight except peter gets stopped because he doesnt move his head like Tuaand stands straight up like a punching bag.
Terrible style clash for Peter. I can imagine him taking a grotesque beating before some kind of mercy stoppage, either from the ref waving it off, a towel coming in, something along those lines.
Lewis hurts Peter very early on .It then turn s in to a mauling, grabbing fight from Peter. But Lennox eventually clubs him to the ground. Lewis by ko 7.
Even at that stage of his career, Lewis would have dished out a terrible drubbing on poor Peter. I would not have seen Peter making it the distance and might have had a small wager on the same - Lewis by TKO, before it reaches the championship rounds.
It depends how badly Lennox has faded by then. Peter was crude and generally awful, but man, he could punch like nobody's business. And he could take a ridiculous shot as well. An unmotivated or badly prepared Lennox that attempted to bang it out with Peter might find himself coming off second best. Mercer gave him problems in his prime, and Peter has some similar attributes. This coming from a Lewis fan, FWIW.
I'll go with this. Lesser punchers in Rahman and McCall tucked PRIME Lewis up for the night. It's not inconceivable at all that an older and fading Lewis could get sparked out by a monster puncher like Peter. People need to take their fanboy glasses off.
The flip side of this is having to rely on that good old shallow chestnut of McCall and Rahman despite Lewis beating possibly the best array of punchers of anyone and revenging both defeats emphatically. Peter would have been quite green at the time they would have fought via Suzie's timeline. If Lewis fought again i'm sure he would have been in better shape than he had been for the substituted Vitali. Otherwise he surely would not have fought again.
Sam Peter, a "monster puncher? Are you really still on that Bandwagon? Other than Oleg Maskev, who was stopped in all seven of his career defeats, can you name me one ring-ranked (or even relatively world class) opponent that Peter beat by way of KO/TKO?
If you can't see that Peter was a tremendous puncher then you need specs. Ali stopped Foreman! It means he must have been the #1 HW puncher of all time! Vitali has an 87% KO record. He must surely hit harder than anybody else! Now when you've finished "yes, but" -ing those two statements, apply the same skepticism to Sam Peter and why his KO record was not as high as his punching power would suggest. I think that Lewis was faded enough by that time for Peter to be able to land on him consistently.
