Definitely. Its not through a lack of trying on Joyce's part though. After 5 fights, hes defending commonwealth champion and already calling out a multitude of top tier heavyweights. Just needs an opportunity.

Interesting, this must mean Joe has real potential.

I will watch him more closely from now on.

I already have Joyce at #4 in my updated HW rankings and by this time next year I have little doubt him and Fury will be leading the pack.

    AJ
    Povekin
    Fury
    Joe Joyce
    Charr
    Whyte
    Wilder
    Pulev
    Miller
    Gorman

He also stopped Lewison on his debut in the eighth round. It took Whyte ten rounds a year earlier, in his twentieth fight. Also, Lewison had a four week camp for Whyte and the longest camp he had ever had for the Joyce fight.

I think Joyce is the kind of fighter who looks good against mediocre opposition. With his strength, engine and fast hands he can overwhelm ordinary fighters quite easily. But his limitations which include very suspect defence and lack of strong jab will cause issues against better fighters. I think most top 10 fighters would find it easy to get though his defence so unless he significantly improves that he's not going to get to world level.

He doesn't seem to have much of a defence whatsoever? It's like he's decided his arms are for offensive use only and attempting a guard of any kind simply isn't cricket.

Joyce is very good, but Bacurin was acting worse than Fabio Moli or even Malik Scott.

Bacurin clearly just quit. He was likely hurt by the shot on the top of the head but could of gotten up easily. But he came in on short notice, was likely not in fighting shape and just showed up to be paid because he wasn't prepared for a fight.

As for Joyce, he is not pretty to watch. He's cumbersome and pretty slow but you can't discount him. I thought he beat Yoka in the Olympic final, so should be a gold medalist and he beat Hrgovic in the WSB pretty convincingly and many think Hrgovic is a top prospect.

We just need to see him in with someone decent to properly assess him, we are learning nothing from him fighting opponents like this where he just basically does what he pleases in the ring.

His offense is his defense, there's so much volume coming at his opponents it scares the **** out of them, because they have to defend every angle, never allowing them to collect their thoughts, figure him out and time him, and he usually KO's them before or by the time they start to get his rhythm down.

Nope, I'm American as American can get. I'm not easily pleased, I just think people are underrating Joyce, and not seeing the full picture when they're watching him. The man KO'd Lewison quicker than Whyte and beat him more impressively in his pro debut, Allen just lost to Thomas, Joyce eviscerated him, those two wins are being overlooked, Bacurin was only his 5th match, and at this point he's just as impressive, if not more so than AJ was by his. Here, compare.

    Here's AJ's dreadful 4th match.

There were lots of reasons to like Bruno. Brits like a tryer, an underdog, a nice guy that works hard and stays humble. He was all of those things. Sadly he wasn't a great boxer, but he was a good one and at the time we'd been short of those in the HW division for a long time.
