Not a man to get carried away by hype..but I just like this guy. Great technique, I've thought that for a while. Bright lad, dedicated, sound technique, massive, fit, clean living, I just think this guy is gonna have a great journey. I'm not saying at this stage " He will beat so and so" but I reckon this man is a serious player. He's just so uncomplicated. Anyone agree/ disagree?
With the talent pool being so weak in the heavyweight division, he'll get into the mix with the other contenders. His skillset might be limited or basic but he's massive, strong, has a good chin and is fit as a fiddle and will be hard to beat. *I'm pretty sure I've previously said Joyce will probably reach Euro title level, but I have changed my mind on him a bit. The way he just walked through Lenroy Thomas, who I thought might be a tricky opponent, with a total disregard to what was coming back at him did impress me. He might not be pretty to watch but he seems to be effective with the other attributes he has. I don't think he'd beat Joshua or Wilder but there's plenty of other interesting fights for him potentially.
Joyce has the potential to pick up a genuine world title, he is that “effective”. However time is not his friend. Boxers are not the same once they hit the magic 40. It’s the expiry date. He needs to get that title in the next 2 years to maximise his career.
I’ve liked him since the amateurs, always liked the constant pressure and lots of punches. He will leave Haye soon I reckon unless they get him some bigger fights
I like him a lot. Firstly he comes across a really nice guy. But I love his style, it's just exciting, there's no cageyness about him he just comes forward, corners guys and thuds and chops them down. I think gives ANY of the top heavys a serious problem even now. The only issue is his age and the fact he is going to be avoided like the plague. By the time he gets to a mandatory slot he could be in his late 30s. No one will want to fight him, he is just a relentless big strong guy that would take some serious stopping.
Nearly fell off my chair reading some posts stating Joyce is technically good! Are you deluded??????? I actually said after the fight “ what the **** did they teach him in Sheffield GB for all those years? He is a KO waiting to happen. No defence and moving forward all the time he will walk into a bomb cone the time. Not quick with his hands and doesn’t really do a great job of cutting the ring off! Granted he’s fit and a handful but Haye is hyping him like he hyped himself and look how that ended! Ps... he seems a nice lad
He's better than advertised. I think he's going to prove to be somewhat of a dark horse in time. I think people diminish him looking at his past because he turned pro at an older age and he got beaten by Usyk in WSB. Boxers do learn and improve people like to forget that.
Thought it was hilarious during the recent IFL TV when Chisora told Joyce to dump Haye and get a real promoter
We don’t know how good Joyce is until he fights a proper opponent. A wach or a Hammer who are rated, durable but aren’t really the best are the type of fights he needs to be having. Wouldn’t imagine them to be too expensive either.
