GGG vs Canelo 2 - no face to face until fight night

I guess this is a good promotional angle to mean bad blood but is it creatively new or rehashed? What was the last big fight where the fighters only met at the ring throughout the promotion? I don't remember myself lol.

 

I remember Max raving about the HBO face-off they were going to air for cinco de mayo but obviously it wasn’t needed. I wonder if they will air that one because apparently there will not be a new one. Or will they scrap it altogether to purposely have them not seen together?

I mean they are going to have to do press together and weigh in, so they just won’t walk up to each other? Seems weak.

I’m sure these guys don’t like each other, but surely their have been real animosity between fighters before and they were still able to come face to face before entering the ring on fight night,

From everything I've read, quotes from all the parties on it, it is Golovkins' side that insisted on them being separated until weigh in. It was Golovkins' side that insisted on separate opening pressers, at the least. I don't think it has to do with either being scared of the other. Just a promotional gimmick.

GBP, Oscar and Canelo dont want none of that smoke, they will take the fight, take the money but a verbal fight in a face to face, they are getting slaughtered, its all one way traffic. That last presser they had before the failed rematch was horrible enough for them and shits only got worse for them since that.
