Not sure about that one.
Barnes has been all over the world as amateur and fought the best at the highest level not saying he will win but can't see him being blown away like Hyland.

 

Yeah, this guy is young, fresh and naturally big so he is a threat alright. But he has been beaten by 2 uk fighters ( admittedly two of their brightest prospects, selby and Yafai). So Barnes might be fine...(he was very impressive last time out, in fairness to him). Before that I'd little faith in him but he suddenly stepped it up last time out.

Moving on from the jaw-breaking thrashing from ormond that he brazenly refused to acknowledge...the Bould Hyland has outdone himself this time.

He's back, spoofing for Ireland, blaming a head clash and bang on the back of the head for the squashing he got from Ritson. I was looking right at it and it was a jab that shook him first, the chancer. Then he goes on to say that he chose to slug it out cos of his great "heart". No you didn't Paul. No you didn't. Get real.

 

Just once id like one of these lads to cone out and say you know what i was out of my league against that lad but ill be back in the gym to work harder and see hiw far i can get.
this fight reminded me of casey v rigo and spike v fitz where one guy was clearly layers above the other. both those tried to trade because of heart aswell when it was actually because they weren't to sure where the were or what else to do.

 

I know. I think people know that often when a fighter knows he is beaten he will choose to slug it out to put an end to the misery. He knows he ain't gonna win and he might as well get it over with. It might get passed off as heart and guts and while there might be an element of that to it, really it's It's kind of tactical suicide in a way.......

Never heard or could imagine a fighter think that way it’s just pure instinct either fight or flight.

You either stand trade with the intention of winning or you flee, make up injury, stay on stool, take a knee turn head etc. Can’t imagine taught process where you say ah **** it im getting beaten may aswel stand trade and get it over quick.

What happens when fear creep in is they go into a shell and don’t try to win just happy to survive. I’d much rather try win and go out on my shield than be happy get through fight on a points defeat.

Ok Luke. Naturally enough I accept you know more about what goes through a guys mind in there. I didn't so much mean a "thought process" or a deliberate tactic. More a subliminal thing, a bit of panic involved maybe....and of course a big element of fight or flight as you say.

I'm pretty sure I've seen other examples of it ( but naturally enough I can't think of one just now!!!). I'm also pretty sure other guys have mentioned it happening too, so it's not just me that thinks it could happen. To be honest....Actually the whole thing came about in the first place from me having a poke at Paul Hyland for his not coming out with his hands up and saying "I got squashed". He wouldn't accept ormond beat him either.

 

Warrens show at the o2 last night was awful. Place was empty. Wonder is Carl having any regrets about going with him instead of Eddie Hearn?....

 

I agree it’s class when see fighter being completely honest no excuses, no ego just admit defeat and learn improve move on.

Who is everyone picking for Jono-Geraty fight was edging towards Jono when fight was first made he has improved the most since first fight but not sure if got high level sparring in Spain lately.

Deco once he sticks to his boxing doesn’t try please crowd get involved can outbox anyone but sometimes emotions get involved and can stand and try fight. It is a 50/50 fight but with the bad blood and emotions involved and breaks into a scrap Jono comes out on top.
