Prior eras featured numerous contenders bigger than Lyle. Lyles size and strength is not going to be a problem.

Anyway i see a compelling Louis victory. Guys underrated now - he was a machine. Lyle has nothing to offset him.

Lyle had size, power and decent speed but more importantly he had excellent fghting will.

I think he gives any opponent a dangerous fight.

Lyle didn't give Quarry of all people a good fight. It was a one-sided fight in which Lyle lost every round. Jimmy Young also easily beat Lyle pretty easily. These were not competitive fights in either case. Lyle's record doesn't suggest he would be challenge for everyone given he was easily beaten by some of the guys he actually fought.

Honestly I'm not certain he'd beat the best Max Baer

is this Max Baer at his best? Ron Lyle fought and beat much better fighters than this.

I don't count Max completely out but Lyle was quicker, a better boxer and probably hit just as hard.

The way he wobbled when Ali tagged him leads me to believe Louis takes him out with his explosive combos inside 9 rounds.

I'd say the Schmeling fight was Baer at his best. The thing about him is that he had an iron chin and could punch. So even if Max Baer did beat Lyle, I would guess that it'd be a come from behind win .And I'm not saying he would beat Lyle, just that in the event that he did.

Louis was an avid golf player. In fact, him, Liston and Ray Robinson used to go golfing together.

While I think Lyle would always be dangerous, I do now realize that Lyle went 2-4 over these two years. Granted, losses were to Foreman, Ali and Young x2, those versions of Ali and Foreman were not the best... Certainly have to favor Louis but Lyle was still dangerous.
