    I was looking for examples and didn't stumble on any particularly quickly with Korean fighters

    In Japan Yoshimitsu Yashiro defended a Japanese title twice against different Takashi Miura... In fact he went 1-1-1 against fighters called Takashi Miura, which I always find kinda interesting. Not quite the topic at hand by not far off

    Just suggesting it's perhaps not as common as one would thing given the naming system in Korea. I think you're probably right in suggesting it HAPPENS but it doesn't seem to happen A LOT

    Kim vs. Kim or Park vs. Park has to have taken place, at least in low-tier undercard bouts, countless times.
