Which of the following would beat Tubbs at his best?

Tyson Furys jab is better than Tommy Loughrans jab.......every time I think I've heard it all you come up with another gem.

 

Tubbs was a bum, let's face it.

 

Almost a year later, I just picked up on the OTW reference.

 

He'd likely out point a few of them but untimely he picks up some losses too.

 

Tubb 'at his very best' would beat that list...I would go for Conn and Loughran if they were slightly bigger, and could punch I consider them more skilled and complete fighters, but not punchers. But with that said, TNT Tubbs could box, and he was quick for a big man...He beats that list IMO.

 

In this "weak" era Bruno and McCall couldn't be world champion.In the 90s Mccall destroyed Lennox Lewis
easily. The 80s era is vastly underrated .Show me a stronger list than the following; Tyson,Holmes,Spinks,Holyfield,
Tucker,Ruddock,Douglas,Pinklon Thomas,Berbick,Witherspoon,James Smith,Tubbs ,Bruno,Mason,Carl Williams,
Cooney,Page etc.

That 80's era is underrated. So many skilled boxers. Who had speed, great jab and footwork. Watch Carl Williams for example. And he wasn't even a beltholder in that era.

True - and I wonder if anyone voting then, after a couple of years to think about it, would change their vote today.

The question posed is interesting (and clever) because Tubbs is, in the main, considered sub-elite - albeit that he is also perhaps seen as an underachiever. The general perspective of Tubbs, therefore, elicits the spark of a possibility - in some - that Pioneers and Old Timers, such as Sullivan and Corbett for example, renowned in their time, might beat him.

But, Tubbs on one of his better days, weighing in at 230lbs (+/- a few pounds), was was terrific operator and, Head-to-Head, would pose an above-average problem to solve, for any modern-day, top-level heavyweight, in my opinion - let alone those at the embryonic stages of the sport.
