Foster has to get to Patterson early and quick. Otherwise Patterson wins by late stoppage, depending on fight length scheduled.
The size difference is not alot at all.Floyd was 168 when he turned pro. Do people really think Floyd was that much better p4p? If so, why isn't that reflected in how people view his legacy?
I get you with this. Floyd ,wrongly or rightly ,never does well in head to head's with any one who can Punch a little .So not sure why Foster isn't given more a shot against him. I know Bob failed every time he stepped up against a decent heavyweight but perhaps he'd stand a shot against Floyd? Would it have to be a full blown natural heavyweight who always stops Patterson? I think it's more a case of Bob not bringing that power up with him than Floyd losing to any big hitter. But who knows ,Floyd s Chin could be unpredictable at the Best of times. And how does Fosters Chin stand up against his own decent power . I'll say Floyd to win but he may suffer a kd or two first .
Seriously this is DISGUSTING as underrated is patterson on this forum... The people forget as easily he did beat archie moore, the same archie that short time ago did put the ass of marciano in the canvas. Patterson would ko foster early
Tough one. Faster never did well against true heavyweights. I don’t give Patterson’s victory over Archie Moore much weight. I have heard Archie mentioned in a interview that he was in no condition to fight. Apparently a former liaison was accusing him of raping her 12-year-old daughter just prior to the flight.
That's a disgusting accusation. And if it's not true then the accuser deserves the same punishment the accused would have gotten had he been guilty. Outrageous either way
Patterson batters and stops Foster by ko in 4...and Floyd's chin wouldn't be an issue at all...but Foster's would have been...big time.
At LHW I'm not sure. Foster was a dangerous puncher at that weight. But Patterson prime was as a heavyweight. So I'd pick Foster at LHW, maybe by stoppage. At HW though, I see the reverse. Patterson all the way. Probably by stoppage.
In case you wish to mete out justice here is a lead. “Later, Moore said that he was under undue stress in Chicago because a former lover was attempting to blackmail him by claiming, among other allegations, that Moore had raped her 12-year-old daughter. Moore said that because of the blackmail ruckus, his head just wasn't into fighting Patterson. The bout was like something he watched as a spectator, not participated in. But allegations that Moore had taken a dive in a fixed fight began to spread. Eventually, Moore felt obliged to respond by releasing a statement: I must protest strongly when it is hinted that I dumped the fight. To do so I would have had to have a reason, and the only reason would be that I had bet money on Floyd. It takes a minimum of two to make a bet, and if the man I bet with will come forward I'll be glad to meet him for the first time. If I had won the fight, I would have been the holder of the heavy and light-heavyweight titles. I think it would have meant quite a few dollars in the Moore bank account. The odds were favorable for a "killing," because I was a 6-to-5 favorite, and when you rule out money there isn't another reason for me to go into the tank . . . I openly admit I was beaten fairly by a good fighter. I've lost many fights but never did I lose one in such a sorry fashion as the night I fought Floyd Patterson. Moore's statement, however, only fueled fixed-fight speculation” https://deadspin.com/5931778/blackm...on-the-night-floyd-patterson-conquered-boxing
