I'd take Ward all day unless there's a British ref. Joe is fast and awkward, but solid ring intelligence and timing can counter act that. An old Hopkins, for example. Even shot to bits RJJ managed to put Joe on the canvas once.

Ward can land the cleaner shots on the inside, stays on balance better, and grinds out a W.

Yes, just look at the Kessler fight.

Ward fouled his way to victory over fighters he had no reason to on the way up.

 

So one questionable fight is worse than a string of blatantly horrible stoppages against opponents who were already crap.
