YO...Sotting delayed at airport and this gave me chills!! “Win Rocky”:boxing1

No doubt the first Rocky got me more involved with watching and understanding boxing.

I’m at the end of my 40s and still could just sit and watch all the Rocky movies

I think your ranking is spot on Rummy

Anybody else think Sylvester Stallone was a horrible casting choice? First of all he's an absolute terrible actor. Second, he's a blown up JMW on roids trying to convince us on screen that he's the HW champion of the world. The guy is dwarfed by everybody in the series. He's actually really not that big at all.

The first movie in particular is high quality. It could have been one of the best movies ever made with a better casting choice though.

Stallone was 5'8" on a good day. And was only 163 pounds in Rocky III. He's no bigger than Marvin Hagler or Lara. Imagine Lara fighting at HW. LOL.

Hey Rummy what were those clips of Bellushi? Where they out of a Rocky or was that another film?

As I'm sat here drinking a Stella, watching Smokey and the bandit, I'm afraid to say yes they could....and that man would be Burt Reynolds.

I love Burt (and Smokey and the Bandit) but can't really picture him as Rocky.

I've never understood the interest in the Rocky movies. Good for Stallone for capitalizing on it but the theme is so common it is cliche. Raging Bull is the best boxing movie I have seen.

    Well ...

"Sylvester Stallone wrote the screenplay for Rocky in three and a half days, shortly after watching the championship match between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner that took place at Richfield Coliseum in Richfield, Ohio on March 24, 1975. [...] United Artists liked Stallone's script, and viewed it as a possible vehicle for a well-established star such as Robert Redford, Ryan O'Neal, Burt Reynolds, or James Caan.[9] Stallone insisted upon portraying the title character himself, to the point of issuing an ultimatum. Stallone later said that he would never have forgiven himself, had the film become a success with somebody else in the lead."

Pretty cool, huh? I was likewise surprised to learn that Stallone himself had written Rocky.

He casted himself, a terrible actor to play Rocky. First Stallone looks ridiculous next to Creed, Lang and Drago because of how tiny he is. And second, he's not a good actor.
