Robinson and SRL are the only two i'd make faves as well offhand. I don't think i'd have anyone else better than even money.
Joe Walcott Vs Hearns would be an interesting one, and a bizzaire one to watch. I think Hearns would outbox him, but if Walcott landed. . . . Tommy Ryan could maybe do it too, just someone that could really win. I think Sam Langford would beat him nearly every time.
Not too many, imo.Prime Curry gives him a good go. Rodriguez,Griffith,Napoles, would all be competitive.Burley I'd pick to win..
It wouldn't surprise me to see a fight with Basilio look like the Barkley fight. And I think Zivic would beat him, stop him in fact. I base this off of Zivic giving Robinson two hard fights; my understanding, from what I have read, is that he was very effective going to the body on Sugar Ray. If that's true, he'd get to Tommy's body, and if you do that you beat him. It wasn't his chin that let Hearns down; body shots drained him quick, probably because he was cutting so much weight. Leonard beat him with body shots. In the Barkley fight his legs were shaky before the end because Barkley was landing to the body. Hagler killed him to the body, his legs were gone after the first round. Even Dewitt hurt him to the body in the 7th round of that fight. Of course he can get you out with one right hand, if he goes after you.
The worst guy who could spark him out is Randall Bailey. If Mayweather could take his jab away, anything would be possible.
SRR, Gavilan, Napoles, LMR, and Griffith, to name 4. The above named 4 would have also beaten Duran as well.
Barkley,Dewitt, Hagler ,were not 147 pounds. Hearns would cut Basilio to ribbons. Zivic didn't beat Robinson in either fight.
Tommy would be hard to beat by most at this weight .Robinson is one name that I'd put money on beating him. And even then it's no walk in the park for sugar ..
You may very well be right, but he was cutting Barkley to ribbons too. Zivic gave Robinson hard fights by going to the body and Robinson is not only better than Hearns, he was vastly more durable. Hearns was matched well at 147. Leonard hurt him to the body and that was a consistent factor for most of his career, regardless of weight. That was the point I was making.
