Foster looked so skinny but hit like a truck. It just didn't seem fair.

But Wilder is said to be probably the hardest hitter ever to lace up gloves. After watching Foster/Quarry I seem to think that pound for pound Foster hit harder

Wilder hits hard, but I severely doubt he hits the hardest ever.
The level of competition & his awkward styl accentuate his power.
Pound for pound, Foster likely did hit harder.
But also like in weightlifting, a smaller huy has the advantage physiologically in this, as oppose dto absolute, measurements.

Wilder is gaining some of my respect after the Ortiz fight but I think Bob Foster was a better pound for pound puncher. Foster's left hook gets most of the attention and rightly so but he had a great right hand and a strong jab. Foster had the ability to knock guys out cold. For awhile he was a man among boys at light heavyweight. Wilder's right hand has one shot fight changing power but not necessarily more so than some other heavyweights in history, i.e., Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Baer, Liston, Foreman, Tyson, Shavers, Cooney, Morrison, etc. And pound for pound there are alot of the lighter guys that are contenders for that pound for pound hardest puncher title. I need to see Wilder against other quality heavyweights such as Joshua and Fury to see if his punch is as effective at that level.

Well Foster garnered his power using text book punches with seemingly little expenditure.
Wilder winds his punches up and gets extremely wild with his.
Actual power you would probably have to go with the bigger man, but Foster rendered men unconscious, while for all his power most of Wilder's opposition as bad as they are still seem to remain on their feet, although I must confess I haven't seen a lot of his earlier fights.
There couldn't be more contrast in their technical ability to throw the knockout punch, but to be fair Wilder whichever way he does it has considerable power.

Wilder has not fought the high level to say he is the hardest puncher ever. Foster fought guys to how he could be one of them.

Wilder the hardest hitting heavyweight ever... Talk about the gullible casual fans lapping up what they're being sold, wholesale.

The product hasn't done much of anything, to be honest, especially considering how long he's been fighting.

People are desperate for anything approaching world class at heavyweight nowadays, but even 20 something years ago a record like Wilder's would be laughed out of the boxing world along with the Don Steeles and other mid-west bum bashers of the world. He passes the current fans litmus test because he's exciting, not because he's actually some hidden gem or a great in the making.

If u look at the numbers, wilder koed every man he faced. So unless the othe guy did the same, i dont see how he can be p4p the "better" puncher.

I dont understand, are people not gonna be impressed unless wilder knocks everyone out in the 1st round? Do they want to see the opponents head roll into the crowd and an announcer shouting "fatality!".

I've read that several times, on here I believe. But it seems plausible as far as one punch power is concerned I guess
