U Ulster is most definitely not a country you mong. Ulster includes 9 counties 3 or which are in the Republic or Ireland. Wikipedia could have told you that instead of being an ignorant arse hole.
You would be to if occupied the least ye could do is understand the difference. BTW I'm not bitter at all just no time for ignorance you would be to I'm sure if the same applied to your birthplace. The main point being he won an ulster title which is not much at all I even boxed at that level and I was not that good!
Lighten up Ffs. I'm quite sure moog ( one of the better posters in here by the way) meant no offence to you, ok? Outside the island of Ireland, very few people know or care about Ireland. Few would be bothered to look up the details of petty political divisions of Ireland in Wikipedia either. So it's not that moog is being a Mong as you so charmingly suggest. Let's keep it boxing, shall we....
He’s a good lad is Moog. He meant no offence. You’ll have to be more forgiving of our lack of knowledge of Ireland/Northern Ireland. I only just learnt this myself as i’m half way through Barry McGuigan’s book, otherwise i’d have been blissfully unaware of the sensitivities around this, too. It’s great to have you on the board but you don’t have to steam in with the verbals. It’s very civil on here.
With all the experience he has gained to date if he continues he will be one of the most successful trainers we have produced. I'm not a massive fan but you can't knock what he has done thus far. Even though we haven't seen enough of Frampton and Moore he seemed to really gel with Carl. They probably still would have been together had there not been the fall out with Barry.
A lot of folks continue to be unaware that mcguigan is from clones in county Monaghan, in the Irish republic.....at some stage the mistaken belief took hold that he was I guess from Northern Ireland/the etc etc
I think Shane is the new type of trainer for the modern era A good trainer You dont need to be a fighter Enzo Calzgue , Adam Booth and Dom Ingle have proved this There is a lot more to being a trainer now than fighting experience As far as trainers go I actually keep an eye an Mark Tibbs (Jimmys son) This is a person that had a good fight record in amateur and pro walked away at the age of 24 then came back a decade later to train fighters Along with the fight experience the Jimmy Tibbs influence and his time as a personal trainer in his gap years I recon is a good trainer I am keen to see what he can do over the next few years but Shane is a good trainer
Absolutely, mate. He explains the reasons in his book which are totally understandable, but I think the false belief was possibly reinforced by his accent and that he won the Lonsdale belt. Regarding his son, I like him. He’s obviously still learning, he’s only a young lad but he’s improving. He’s done a great job with honing Groves’ skill set and reigned in his recklessness. Josh Taylor is thriving under him too.
Yes indeed. Regarding accents I recently assumed a guy was from Belfast (NI) when in fact he was from Donegal ...a long way away in the banana republic! ( and I'm Irish, lived here over half a century......so the confusion about Barry's accent is perfectly understandable). Barry "worked the system" well in his career He boxed amateur in the green vest for Ireland (where he lived) and still managed to be eligible to contest the British title (where rather money was) as a pro. I'm sure it's in the book but Barry has had a lot of personal tragedy in his life along with the success. Is the book good?
I’m loving it, mate. Proper busy at the moment so it’s snatched moments but ‘young Ali’ has just died and he’s coming to terms with that. Can’t remember his next opponent but he has the fella finished but won’t throw the finishing shot & instead gets caught with one himself. There’s hints of the personal tragedy that’s to come.
With Josh Taylor just been announced as joining the Wbss, Shane really is going to have his work cut out in the next few months Luckily Shane has a very good team behind him so hopefully it all turns out good in the near future
