Its bern confirmed by insiders that Ortiz grew uo watching Muhammed Ali and is in fact 48 years old.

How would a 28 year old Ortiz bought forward in time from 1998 do?

Ortiz would have stopped Wilder when he had him hurt had he been younger, he had no hand speed and took an age to get his punches off when he had Wilder on the ropes, he could only fight in one gear and his stamina was gone, that`s why his guard got lower when got caught.

I'm very glad Ortiz got his title shot. He has been waiting for a shot with the likes of Jeanette, Wilis and Langford. :chuck:

Fed up of this 'age' thing now....

I'd be more worried about the fact Wilder got caught with a hook by a much smaller man.

It’s a well known fact that Luis Ortiz left Cuba as a 6 month old baby in nappies when Fidel Castro came to power in 1959.

Only advanced US scientific technology has allowed Ortiz to fight professionally at such an old age. The fact he doesn’t look a day over the age of 49 is a miracle of modern scientific achievement.

48, 38, it doesn’t matter, he was past his physical prime. Didn’t he only have 6 12 round fights?

I’d back a younger Ortiz to beat Wilder, the same way I’d back a younger Wlad to beat Joshua. The difference is one of these scenarios is perfectly acceptable, while the other one is worrisome.

I could have sworn that Ortiz helped build Noah's ark. Didn't he do the decorative Cuban scrollwork on the sides?

He wouldn't have the experience and patience he has now and would have lost by KO in the first rounds.

28 year old Luis Ortiz wouldn't of ever fought Wilder. Ortiz took 8 fricken years to get a title shot, he wasted a good part of a decade doing nothing but fighting nobodies. A young Ortiz would have the same lack of urgency as old Ortiz and just spend his time fighting journeymen, ducking out of eliminators, avoid utilising his mandatory status , basically anything he could do to waste his prime.

People talk about Wilder's career being slow to progress, him wasting years fighting nobodies, but compared to Ortiz his progress was lightening fast.

This. Ortiz's ring experience and timing completely neutralized Wilder's jab and his well-timed counters had Wilder gunshy for several rounds. Ortiz would've been a nightmare for any of the current top fighters. Wilder's excellent gas tank and his ability to carry his power late won him the fight.

Joshua and Hearn wanted no part of Ortiz.

Fury admitting that fighting Ortiz isn't worth the trouble, since he's a tough fight, but brings nothing to the table.

Fury would jab Ortiz's head off

You pretty much can't beat a focused Tyson Fury if you're below 6'4" tall.

Give Joshua abit more experience and he'll be immune to the small guys also...just like Wlad learned to be. I think he's at the point now where he should be able to utterly dominate and control guys like Povetkin etc with his jab alone and finish with the right.
