Two inconsistent heavies. I'll take the one with the ATG jab and better upside. That said, there were plenty of sub prime versions of Pinky that a peak Sharkey could take.

Prime for prime I'll go with Sharkey. Sharkey to me is more talanted and versatile. Pinky is a bit of a one handed fighter who alot of the time just didn't work his very good jab enough. Sharkey UD

Both of these guys were capable of blowing it against the other, but I think that Sharkey's best was slightly better.

IMO, Thomas had decent heavyweight punching power

Since we are talking about the Thomas who brings his a-game, Sharkey a) won´t hurt him and b) won´t win a boxing battle with Thomas keeping the distance --> Thomas.

I agree with both of these messages. Thomas seems to be overrated by some of the guys who were following the heavyweight scene when he was heavily hyped in the 80s. But I don't see Sharkey hurting him. I think he circles and batters Sharkey with his jab all night.

In what ways, if any, was Sharkey better than Mike Weaver?

I agree .. the best Sharkey had much more game and wins a clear decision.
