Could go either way .Both could punch ,both could be KO'd .Rahman the more confident in a longer fight, if any ones getting KO'd early I don't think it's Frank. I'll go with Bruno dictating with his jab ,messing Rahman face up then the ref jumping in around the 6 round mark and lifting Bruno's arm .
Bruno wins pretty easy to me. Rahman gets over rated because he got lucky with an out of shape lewis. He had limited boxing skill and his chin wasn’t amazing. Bruno could out box him and knock him out
Offer a decent argument and I’ll take your advice into consideration. Bruno would destroy hasbeen Rahman
There are plenty of superficial similarities between the two. Both were physically strong, upright fighters with hard jabs and dangerous right-hands. Both were susceptible to stoppage losses. Bruno probably took a better shot than Rahman, but was less able to recover when he actually did get hurt. Rahman also did not have any obvious stamina issues like Bruno. Rahman has a huge win that Bruno doesn't come close to (Lewis), but Rahman has the eyesore losses to Maskaev whereas Bruno generally fought to his level and only ever lost to better fighters (you could argue the Bonecrusher fight to a certain extent as he was clearly winning it). Bruno put up a much better losing effort against Lewis than Rahman did in the 2nd fight. It's very difficult to separate the two in terms of abilities and fighting record. My hunch is that Bruno would win the battle of the jabs and take the centre of the ring. Rahman was not as effective when he wasn't the one setting the pace, and I think Bruno would land something big and get a highlight reel knockout. If Rahman gets past the half way stage though, there's an increasing chance that he pulls a Bonecrusher on a fading Bruno.
I actually think Rahman ourlasts him and wins by late KO, but it's 60/40. take out his win over Lewis and he still has Sanders. Similar fighters indeed
I'm of the exact same mind. I can see either guy winning but give a slight edge to Rahman. Rahman better stamina but could be KOd by a good puncher not named David Tua, Bruno better chin but survival skills when hurt are lacking and his stamina in the latter rounds always a ?.
Great stylistic match up, actually. We can look at it like this: Bruno lost to only the best of his day. Rahman was more inconsistent and lost to guys Bruno would steamroll. I'm in the majority who feels Rahman can be overrated based on his sole moment of glory against an unprepared Lennox Lewis. But that Corrie Sanders brawl is great to revisit from time to time. I think Bruno can match anything Rahman brings to him and fights a fairly cautious fight until Rahman tries to Bonecrush him near the end. But it's too late. Bruno W12 Rahman with scores similar to 116-112.
