So if they are fought at at 175, should they not be brought up when comparing both fighters short tenure at 175?

they are tuneups. Theres not two ways about this.

I get pal, you are pulling my leg pretending you dont know what a tuneup is.

No they was not, PSJ perhaps but it was a comeback fight and still at 175.

Next was Barrerra and then Brand, you don't have 1 tune up, 1 contender, 1 tune up.

However they was all at 175, hence resume comparison.

i dont see you hurrying to compare calzaghes non title resume though, so you are being VERY obviously facetious...no we arent hear to compare what ward and joe did in their pretitle subregional 11th fight against bob spotty smith or whoever - we are hear to compare their world rated wins.

they were tune-ups to get past injury recovery and get used to the weight change, perhaps prove LHW credentials rather than assume them arrogantly, thats all. Note that ward felt he needed to prove his LHW credentials first in order to fight for the unified title, whereas with joe, only fighting for a magazine award, wasnt the same need.

Heres you pretending they had some title or ring magazine award associated with them, you are funny, pal, thanks for cheering me up.

But its interesting you've raised the point that Joe didnt fight any prime fighters at LHW.

    That is hilarious.

The fact Ward has, by far, the best win at 175 should carry it. Kovalev was also P4P top 5 and prime. The fact Ward beats Joe's competition more thoroughly than Joe did is icing.

Marrying the prom queen after she's been divorced twice and gained 30 pounds doesn't make you prom king.

    Brand wasn't a tune up.

Ward sought a fight with both Buglioni and Johnson after the Kovalev rematch, this has been well documented, would these have been tune ups As well?

Listen, I'm quoting a poster who claimed Wards resume at 175 is vastly superior than Joes....sound "his resume"....get it....r..e...s...u...m...e.

Now even if you break their top 2 victories down we have Kovalev and Barrerra for Ward and Hopkins and RJJ for Calzaghe.

Is beating them vastly superior to Hopkins and Jones?

Hopkins was top 3 p4p, lineal and had beaten the number 1 in the division.

why you asking if title defences would have been tune=-ups?

why you asking if a posible fight was a tune-up when someone is already acclimatised to the new division?

why you asking if those fights would be tune-ups when they arent tuning up for a following fight? that is the nature of tune-up fights, to keep you in shape for THE NEXT BIG ONE.

sure and let me know what on joes LHW ..r..e...s...u...m...e is better than two elite LHW wins.

do soon pal, because your jokes are running thin.

The joke is yourself who once again is trying to change the direction as you are out of ammo once again.

The fact that you initially didn't know that PSJ and Brand was at light heavyweight says it all.

You define the word tune up to suit your agenda, the fact Joe Calzaghe went straight to the best in a new division shows once again how great he was.

He didn't need to fight a guy who wasn't even top 10 in Britain let alone the world, a c level fighter in Barrera or dragging up a non punching 168lb fighter in Brand who had been iced by Gvozdyk with 18oz gloves on....

Straight to the number 1.....no tune ups necessary.

So a gift and a tainted win over Kovalev, who's best win was a 49yo Hopkins, is vastly superior than beating Hopkins who was lineal, number 1 in the division and top 3 P4P.....okay.

Your a special kind of poster.

Calzaghes victory over Hopkins is better than Ward over Kovalev......and he didn't need 2 goes at it :bananaride......or 3 "tune ups"......LMFAO
