The winner will become undisputed Cruiserweight champ and beaten another top level fighter and essentially clean out the division. Then if that fighter goes on to win a Heavyweight world title it may be hard to deny ATG status.

This fight is probably the biggest of the year legacy wise. And I wouldn't mind a trilogy though if there is a disputed result and the two men prove to be an even match H2H.

Quite a lofty claim there. But Cruiserweight is historically very shallow and uneventful so the winner will be notable within the division certainly. ATG to the sport as a whole, far from. Moving up and having sustained top level success at HW, "pulling a Holyfield," will be no small task and certainly would be an enormous feather in the cap.

Either way, it's a steaming hot fight and def will be on the short list for most relevant fights of 2018. I like it a lot.

The winner will have one the best victories of any fighter under age 35. Obviously Kovalev's unofficial victory in the first Ward fight stands out as the best and Ward's victory over Kovalev in the 2nd fight are the clear standouts among that crowd.

But after that it gets interesting. You have Rungvisai's destruction of Gonzalez. And then Loma's KO of Linares. And Hurd's victory over Lara. But I think the winner of this fight will have a scalp that stack up with anybody with the exception of Ward and Kovalev.

A journey of 1,000 miles starts with the first step. Or in this case , the first punch.

Srisaket and Roman would have a couple each. Danny Garcia over Matthysse. Thurman over Danny Garcia. Santa Cruz beating the reigning FOTY in Frampton. Frampton having beaten Santa Cruz in the fight before. Both of Joshua and Fury's wins over Wladimir. Inoue's demo of Narvaez. Nery twice early KO'ing Yamanaka... I think there are def a good handful but yes, it would be a great win.

Yep. And I expect the loser to have a great future too. Can't wait to see these two beasts up at heavyweight.

This. Cruiserweight and great are two words that don't go together. The winner will be the undisputed champion of easily one of the weakest divisions in boxing. Some former cruiserweight champions have gone on to prove themselves as real deals at heavyweight such as Holyfield. Haye also had some success at heavyweight and could've had much more, but wasted too many years being inactive.

If either Usyk or Gassiev go on to become undisputed at heavyweight than that would make them a great fighter.

The winner would automatically become an atg. They would have a decent claim to goat at cruiserweight, certainly after Holy field.

Don't see either one grabbing a belt at HW, but it would be silly yo dedeny their lower weight accomplishments because of that.

more like elite status, HoF and ATG lie way ahead. Unification doesnt make you above elite, it helps make you elite.

Gassiev is what you'd get if you put Canelo and Golovkin through a telepod. Beating this guy will be no easy feat.
If Usyk pulls it off he'll have one of , if not the best win currently in the sport.
