All in good fun. I don't hate Lomachenko. He looks great. He has wins over 4 top 10 ranked opponents. Just, once again, the expected fanboys being overly dramatic. It would be a first if they weren't proven wrong with their ridiculous lofty claims. He hasn't yet beaten a fighter ranked in the top 5 of the division (remember, Walters was 0-0-1 as a super featherweight).
Zab Judah is actually the boxer that comes to my mind as the most similar to Lomachenko. Southpaw, speed, slick reflexes, footwork, angles, creative punching. Of course Zab wasn't nearly as consistent, composed, smart, mature, and simply nowhere close to as good, but there's still a valid comparison I think.
Just watched Whitaker's fight against Rafael Pineda and saw several moments where Whitaker's maneuvering and punching reminded me of Lomachenko.
Yes, Ringondeaux. He was P4P#1, unstoppable, untouchable, Olympian, Gold medalist. I love Lomachenko but the nuthuggery is overboard. He lost to Salido, he's been solved. Strong pressure fighters may be his crypto night. That's why I think they skipped the Berchelt fight. I was disappointed.
We have seen many fighters like this before. Most of the legends we have seen fight were undefeated and they looked unstoppable, then they eventually fight someone just as unstoppable. It always happens. I remember when Donald Curry beat Milton McCrory. Everyone was saying, he is the next Ray Leonard and he the next great fighter who will fight Hearns and McCallum at 154 and move up and fight Hagler at 160.. Then we had the next year where he lost to Lloyd and then to Mike. You just don't know.. I think many guys looked just as great early on. Think of most guys. Chavez looked unbeatable at times. Roy Jones Jr. even Michael Nunn.
Unless you can name a fighter that fights like Lomachenko, stay off the thread. It states clearly in the OP, we're looking for technical comparisons—it doesn't matter how great (or not) of a career you think the Ukrainian has had. If all you can say is that he's overhyped, you're too much of a casual to draw historical comparisons.
Closest is Orlando Canizales. Otherwise, I can't think of anybody else who has the combined attributes and move executions of Vasyl Lomachenko.
