Duran wins.. Probably by stoppage, he could have cleaned all the divisions...monzon,foster,Ali, foreman, frazier would be the easiest fights for him

 

I don't think Duran winning would be any kind of miracle here. He may be smaller than Winky, but, if in shape, he is superior to Winky in almost every way, including power.

Agreed, the main thing about this fight is the if? is Duran in shape

 

I did not say he was not ATG.. I said he is not top 10 ATG..

 

Duran always used that excuse when he lost to great fighters. Maybe the great fighters were the variable and not in Duran was in shape.

 

Hearns was far better and quicker at LM than he was at middleweight, Tommy also beat Benitez at LM and Wilfredo p4p was way out of Barkley`s class at middle Barkley would of knocked Benitez out, if Hearns could take your punch he`d usually beat you.

 

Neither was Winky.

 

Nobody could beat Hearns with reach as short as Duran`s, stupid fight and a mismatch.

 

Tommy was amazing at welter and good at LM above that is where the losses stated coming apart from his loss to Ray at welter.

 

I don't know if I would call two legends fighting a mismatch. And they were champs at the same weight and had fought some of the same guys, and again Duran fought at 154 earlier than Hearns. Had Duran won people who have said how great Duran is that he beat Hearns, nothing about mismatch. The reason it is said to be a mismatch is because Hearns beat him easily in 2 rounds.

 

Hearns was far beter against Benitez than Duran was at LM, I just couldn`t see how Duran could have got past Hearns reach even Leonard struggled and his reach was longer than Duran`s, it looked like a little boy against a bully.

 

To Duran's credit he got some body punches of and landed a couple of right hands on Hearns, which lesser guys cannot do, so you could see the skill level there, but Hearns offensively was so quick that when he let his hands go Duran not bending under the punches -what could he do. I don't get Duran standing straight up for Hearns. Forget his excuses about not being in shape, that wouldn't affect gameplan in round one. Hagler was ducking under the punches and coming forward.

 

Duran doesn't get past the jab , it ends up being really one sided.

 

Hagler had amazing reach and this study shows the offensive moves Hearns was using to make Duran stand straight up.
