please. be honest in your reply

does anyone think that tyson could have knocked out Ali prime vs prime?
i am not saying that he would, but could tyson get the job done?

Ali is one of my heros and i pick him to win but a peak tyson had tools in accuracy and speed and was the finisher to score the ko here. Yes i know that tucker and smith survived to a peak tyson but Ali would fight to win, not simply to last the distance, of course that if he wanted ali would survive.. But if he fights to win amd taking risks it could be different.. Or not... Ali was so great but tell me what do you think honestly

He had the capability to ko anyone .imo
Having the ability and being successful at implementing it are of course entirely different things .

A guy like Tyson was good enough to have a chance against anybody.

In general I think that at the very upper echelons, the boxers are close enough in skill that one guy having a good day and another a bad day could spell victory or defeat. If Shavers could land repeatedly on Ali, why not Tyson? If Cooper could knock him down like a sack of spuds, why not Tyson?

If you're asking who I'd FAVOUR, then yeah, I'd favour Ali, for many reasons. But Tyson is by no means out of the running.

Combatesdeboxo we dont always agree but I always give an honest answer or opinion.
I'll say this upfront. I do not like Ali that's well documented. I do like Tyson but he's not one of my favorites. That being said a prime Tyson is capable of knocking out almost anyone. I dont see him knocking out Ali though. Ali had one of the best chins and recovery powers when hurt of any fighter I ever saw. Tyson would have to try an beat him on points and that wont happen either. Ali's will to win which he demonstrated time and time again was also second to none.
Ali UD or TKO if Tyson gets so frustrated and realizes he cant win. Honest opinion

Ali was 35 and 10 years past peak. Shavers would have punched mostly air a decade earlier.

A puncher like Tyson, you have to give him a chance against anyone .. but I do think this is the worst matchup for Tyson possible

If he landed cleanly, of course ... but there's the problem. And while I'm sure Tyson could knock Ali down, knocking him out, ref-counts-ten, is another matter. It never happened after facing some of the heaviest hitters in HW history. I don't see Tyson having any better luck.

Anything is possible. The bookmakers will tell you that, but the odds in this scenario are very, very long...

I don't think so. There are worse stylistical fights for tyson

who?? Here's how I see it.. Tyson's timing was so important to his success.. He would slip slip to mid range so he could get off. What disrupts that more than an ATG jab? A lead right, which Ali's was one of the best .. So here, Ali has both .. Look at the Douglas fight, his lead right was so important. Tyson also had problems with the tie up .. I just see this being a very frustrating fight for Mike

You can argue it from both sides.. Tyson could be a bad stylistical match for ali because he could match ali in hand speed and was very accurate puncher, explosive combo puncher( not predictable slower guys like liston, foreman and shavers) and was a great finisher.
I think that foreman, holyfield and vitali were worse stylistical fights for tyson

It could happen. I wouldn't encourage Ali to engage in a firefight with Tyson, that's for sure
