whats happening with Reece mcfadden? I thought he looked really good at the olympics, unbelievable and corrupt that hes never been in the Gb squad.

    **bump**

after watching Joe ham Saturday thought id revisit this thread from a few year ago and see how the guys have progressed

andrew mackay from Inverness; after a promising start has struggled drawn and been beat by polish journeyman marek laskowski for Scottish title and also beat by Ryan collins. can't see him going anywhere tbh

matty mcallister from aberdeen; sure I read he has retired due to injuries?? 10-0 and Scottish title what might have been I suppose

darren traynor from aberdeen; darren has now been beaten 3 times after stepping up and at 31 time isn't on his side to get that big chance again. noticed he has boxed as high as light welter

mike towell of dundee is a very exciting fighter. rip:(

jamie wilson of dundee; jamie took a beating on sky sports against Anthony nelson but has since moved up and was unlucy against josh wale for British. still young enough to have another tilt at teh British agin

conner law of fyfe ; been so disapponted with Conner he is still yet to have a meaningful fight after four years as a professional. 13-0 why hasn't he even fight for Scottish title yet:thinking:

from edinburgh side ive heard that josh Taylor; what a career so far he is single handedly shining the torch for Scotland at the minute and entering the wbss at already is just top drawer and with his stable mate lee McGregor firmly behind him looking top class the future in the east coast is looking bright

another ive heard turning over is lewis paulen; beat fellow Edinburgh fighter Steven tiffanay for the Scottish title. looks a solid operator that doesn't seem to have much weaknesses would be great to see him step up to british level and see where he is at.

james thomsonn from stirling; 9-0 only fought once since team mate mike towel passed rip. maybe what happened was too much for him to carry on properly but still young enough to come back if he choses too

joe hamm from glasgow; after Saturday I think he needs a break and maybe a change of coach. his dad has done a great job but maybe he needs someone else going forward with different ideas? still young enough to be able to fix what went wrong Saturday though

joes team mate stu burt; beat from ally black for Scottish title and think stu might just be at around his level tbh

charlie flynn from glasgow got the gold in glasgow; goes to show that wining a gold at the commonwealth games means nothing. Charlie Flynn since then has looked shaky, 2 draws with Ryan collins and no decent wins to his record 100 percent hype job.

grant quigley from port glasgow; not sure what happened with grant? 6-0 not fought in nearly 2 years. what a waste of talent imo

sam ball from greenock; though sam would be a great professional with his style but hasn't fought in over a year so not sure if he is injured??

ally black; has been beat 3 times but in his last fight won the Scottish title from stu burt. hasn't turned down much fights but I see his Scottish title as his level:thinking:

lewis benson stepped up at the weekend and was beat in a close fight, stuck to gameplan but not sure if he can reach british level.

same goes for Steven tiffanay he was beat by lewis paulin and at 30 not sure how he progresses any further but time will tell

lad that has impressed me is cash farroq from glasgow:thumbsup: pretty sure he is in line for the British and I have seen him twice and he looked very good, nice style and didn't waste his punches

anyone else that has caught your eye in Scotland?

Ronnie 'The Shark' Clark beat Zelfa Barrett in a cracking fight on TV but has not appeared on TV since.

Sounded like an Irish accent but sure he was announced as being from Scotland.

After a cracking win like that, why on earth has he not appeared on TV again FFS

Just goes to show you that in boxing its not always about how good you but the manager/promoter you end up with

Darren just lost vs Juli Giner the former European champion over in Barcelona in a good fight and possibly boxed the best he has so far in his career. Hoping to have a fight tied up for him in the next couple of weeks that will bring him closer to another big title shot. Although Darren is 31 he is still very fresh and hasnt taken massive amounts of punishment. Maybe a fight with Charlie Flynn down the line would be a good one !!

there is a few names up Aberdeen way to keep an eye on

Billy Stuart: Billy has been a pro for just over a year is 5-0 and is a very good prospect. he is only 20 and his next fight will be announced over the next few days and is a real step up in class.

Boris Crichton: Boris hasn't made his professional debut yet but he was in the Scottish team for the last few years missing out on the Commonwealth Games to Sean Lazzarini.

Dean Sutherland: An ex kickboxing world champion that is a very good boxer, he is training with Paul Kean in Dundee but I've seen this kid in our gym sparring and he has some nice moves.

Another who is still amateur is John Docherty, John picked up a Bronze at the Commonwealth Games and is on the GB Squad and at only 20 looks like he will carve out a great career when he decides its time to head into the pro ranks.

@boxingcrazy I think you are well off with some of your assumptions, Joe Ham jr and Sr will be fine together imo. Tyrone was very awkward and there are other boxers at the weight that would be much easier to work out for Joe. On Stuart Burt I believe there has been an immediate rematch being made between him and Ally Black.

Lewis Benson stepped up against an undefeated opponent and was very unlucky not to get the win. He will learn plenty and certainly more than if he was happy just fighting journeymen till he got a shot at the British or another title.

I had Lewis Paulin beat Stephen Tiffney but it wasn't one sided and imo both are decent level and could win British Title , especially if Ryan Walsh looks at going a different route after the Isaac Lowe fight (if he wins that one which I think he does)

Ronnie refused the rematch with Zelfa due to being offered very little money and will now defend his title against David Oliver Joyce on Boxnation show 24th August in Glasgow. Great fight and I'm picking Ronnie to inflict the first pro defeat on DOJ

Ronnie and his team refused the fight in June and also had a small injury that kept him out too. Boxing David Oliver Joyce 24th August now on Boxnation. Mark Dunlop has done very very well for Ronnie

Cash farooq is looking very good and mandatory for the british

I have also heard of the young boy Sutherland from aberdeen - stopped a tough guy in his debut and hearing he is handling himself well in the gym and he is only 18/19

Grant quigley retired a while back as he wasn’t getting motivated. He has been working away and won’t be surprised if you see him boxing again.

Welcome Mr Campbell, yeah shame about Grant he was a mega talented boxer but if the desire isn't there then it's too hard a sport to be pretending.

Cheers bud. Grants been training now and again.. hope he comes back and has that fight with Philaban.. would have been good. 1-1 in the armatures.. would have been nice. With mtk putting on shows now looks like a lot of our guys will have the platform to show case their talent. As for wee joe ham the other night, I feel it was more the opponent that made the fight so awkward. He kept distance yet jumped in with his shots. Horrible style to face. His apprentice is done, just big fights now.

Tommy Philbin from Edinburgh, 11-0 and current Celtic Super-Middleweight champion after beating Rhys Pagan. I really like what I've seen so far with Tommy. A solid puncher with a good defense. Had a spell with @billy nelson before moving back through to Lochend simply down to it being too much travel whilst working a full time job.

He's fighting on the same bill as the one mentioned above in Glasgow in August.

I respect your opinion I just dont see where darren traynor can improve on what hes done already? on Joe ham and his dad I still think that jr would do better away from his dad but just my opinion again. although him against chuck Flynn would be interesting

lewis paulin beats tiffanay every day the week and twice on sunday, different levels:thumbsup:

lewis is still crying like a ***** about Saturday and trying to get a rematch that nobody wants to see:thinking::rolleye:

on your list of boxers from Aberdeen. I like that John docherty and billy Stuart watched quite a bit of them as juniors with Scottish team.

dont rate boris thought he was given a gift against James nelson in gb a couple of year ago and he was beat very easily by lazzarini in Scottish year after and in box off which in my opinion wasn't deserved. won Scottish tis year in a very poor entry at the weight. scottish level at best:thumbsup:

dean sutherland didn't he box for sk promotions? what he done as a Kickboxer doesnt mean anything but he is young so lets see how he develops:thumbsup:

I like ronnie he is a real fighting man and never hides from a challenge so nice to see hi against that Irish lad on the box nation show in august. see he has changed trainers again and is with Terry mccormack now. strange that he moved trainer after the biggest win of his career usually happens after a defeat not after a good win:nusenuse:
