    As of yesterday Akhmedov had been inactive for three months and two days - tying and today pulling ahead to become his 2nd-longest period on the shelf. With nothing scheduled, barring a surprise pop-up fight in the next fortnight, he is almost certain to exceed his current lengthiest of three months and nineteen days (from March until June of last year).

    I wonder if Abel Sánchez has specifically advised him to slow down his torrid matchmaking pace in order to let him fully "buy into" the new coaching system and wait until he's 100% ready to show off any wrinkles added to his game.

    That, or his much-admired discipline has faltered in the face of excessive partying with the rest of the Murat Gassiev entourage as his right-hand-man (alongside Max Golovkin).

    Hopefully the former.

    lol they look like tree trunks. Hard to believe they're only 24 and 22 years old respectively.

    Akhmedov doesn't look quite as fearsome and beastly as Gassiev but he still looks like a beast

    Gassiev looks like Robert De Niro when he's not fighting, Colin Farrell when he is.

    Let's hope he's able to Farrell down for the Usyk fight, or he's in trouble.

    If he is who I think he is, then not only is this guy slow and cumbersome. I question his power and skill too. I don't know if something was wrong with him against patrick mendy or if he just had an off day but I was not impressed.
