Could a prime "big" george foreman be effective today?

    6'2.5" and 219lbs

Dude had no movement to speak of and just clubbed his opponents away.

I think he'd come badly unstuck.

Joseph Parker to take a reasonable modern heavy, has at least 20lbs on "big" george, has an iron chin and FAR superior handspeed.

Its hard to imagine Foreman doing much these days.

Just shows how terrible the 90s were that he could come back and pick up a strap off glass jawed light heavyweight moorer.

seeing as he did fine in the 90s, then of course. He would do better than his 2nd coming.

If he was born later and had the same diet modern heavies have he would likely be more like 6'5 and 240lbs or more.

If you look at heights in countries since WW2 or before, those in modern industrial countries where food was abundant you'll see the population get taller and taller, but not so with nations still in poverty where getting enough to eat is an issue.

So yeah modern day Foreman would be a beast, he'd be modern super heavy with crazy power, a ramrod jab, a brutal style and would likely even be more explosive with modern training methods.

But if you want to just drop a Foreman with all the disadvantages of his era, then yes he'd struggle more, but even then old Foreman competed well against 90s heavies, he's still likely be the biggest puncher of his era and be a huge threat.

George was 192cm, which is just under 6'4". Also, it's easy to cherry pick his lower weights, but it's important to remember that heavyweights back then would cut weight. Even Marciano and Joe Louis would train down. Joe Louis during world War 2 walked around and sparred at around 230 lbs and wasn't flabby.

George himself talks about having to train down and cut weight in his first career.

He'd clean out the entire division from top to bottom. With ease.

He could build up a undefeated record with prob a 80 90 % ko ratio, n win a belt.
Then prob lose to a parker or fury on points n make millions.
He would do very well n b a big draw.
I think he'd beat wilder, to experienced n cagey with big power.

There isn't anyone on the current HW scene who has so far demonstrated that they would give Big George any serious problems in his 1973 days.

Seriously Parker is a bad example as he looked ordinary against Takam,Ruiz,Fury and Joshua, any version of Foreman, young or old would of beaten Parker.
Don’t get what you mean about 90s heavyweight scene, many look at that time as it’s heyday, just seemed to have more depth, throwing up more surprise results which is as it should be at HW,these days you have two or three top guys and don’t you give the rest a chance which seems so odd when you talking about guys that punch so hard?

The current HW scene is woeful. I have no doubt that Foreman would have done very well for himself. There's basically 4-5 fighters that could be classed as the top dogs and a tough challenge and the rest of them are second stringers. And even the top fighters have question marks next to them.

Dude hit like a train and took up the whole ring. Back in the second coming with M.M ,a guy half his age at the time like all these current HWs, he took 5 shots to land 1
Big G would eat these guys like slabs of beef off his grill

That's the thing with these comparisons across eras that people really need to specify when they start these threads:

Which George Foreman do we take? The one who grew up in the 50s and 60s, likely was beaten to bits by his father and grew up on a diet and training regimen that were less than ideal by today's standard?

Or do we put the 70s Foreman in a time machine and transport him here "as is".

I think your right..I think Aj with a modern size Foreman in front of him would be in trouble from the very first bell..You need Ali's attributes to try beating him and even then Foreman was very naïve in that fight in Zaire. Bit more iq or experience and Ali's in trouble too
