Mickey Duff predicted the fight very very well going in. He said one of McCallums looping right hands would land clean. And that Curry would get caught with a shot a never saw.

But Donald did back straight up and McCallum has the tools and balance to fire off a big shot like that. Lots of guys don't have the balance.

Duff said that? So he knew from training Honeyghan and that fight.

Well you should only believe half of what you read.

Prime Don Curry was ruthless but prime Pipino was terminator like cold , breaking bones and concussion opponents. Pipino ko in 9 rds.

There's a chance that Curry could set caught with something and stopped, but prime Curry had a tight defense and was a brilliant counter puncher. Cuevas wouldn't be as unorthodox as Honeyghan, more like a Colin Jones in style.

Curry by late tko or decision

Bull .Curry almost dropped Mccallum early on . He was outboxing Mike so bad LEONARD who was calling the bout was getting annoyed-remember at that time Curry was taking Leonard to court .
Curry is 5'11 which is plenty tall enough to carry 175

I remember that and like you said Ray had some contention with Donald, and Donald did not want him commentating the fight and court issues and all that, which Merchant said was a way for Donald to goad Ray into a fight. Ray would have never fought Donald. Ever.. This is what I think about Ray's thinking. Anyway. So HBO brought it up before the fight on their broadcast and Merchant asked Ray something like, will you be fair in this fight and not want to put castor oil in Donald's water. Something like that, and Ray joked and said I am a professional first.. So I think he went the other way as did Larry and Barry Tompkins and everything Donald did was wonderful. They had Donald dominating in round 4, and I had Mike taking over a little and backing up Donald with Donald's eye swelling. If you see Donald's face at the beginning of round 5, he is dejected in my mind. I think he knew Mike was coming on and his eye was swelling. Look at when he goes to the corner after round 4 and see how he looks at Dave Gorman.. That says it all. He is almost saying, what do I do now? Maybe I looked into it more than most, but Mike was on his way to win regardless of the swelling. They said Curry was 5-10 1/2... Mike was 5-11 1/2 and looked taller.. I don't see Donald being a light heavy. Even at middleweight he looked small.

I agree with this from top too bottom, Curry had some great moments early in the McCallum fight, but it was plain to see McCallum was beginning to find the range in the 3rd rd. And, he didn't have too set up the hook, he saw the opening and instinctively (Something missing from most of today's boxers) fired the hook in that split second of the opening took advantage of it, stopped Curry cold. And in my opnion I just couldn't imagine Curry at Lt Heavy, Unlike Hearns who had the frame of a Lt.Heavy even at jr.Middle, Curry never looked like he could carry that weight and be successful. But I thought he possibly could've went to middle and be successful. But, would he have been successful with his below average chin at the heavier weights?

Mike was starting to pick his punches more slowly. The eye swelling was helping him gain confidence and Donald losing a little. I would have loved to have seen how the fight would have gone without the swelling, but Donald had that swelling at the end of round one slightly. So I went back and watched that fight in round one intently. and the only thing I see no headbutting is Mike's jab landing on the eye. Now I don't know if Donald had a previous injury to the eye. but it could have been Mike's jab. Even in round 2 Donald hurt Mike, but right before that Mike was starting to land on Donald and I think it made Mike drop his guard. I don't know how Donald would do at middleweight. By that point he was on the way down. A fight with Hagler would have been interesting, but Marvin was probably too strong.

Curry was done after the Honeyghan bout .
His two fights after he looked horrible.
Curry had one of the fastest primes ever but at his best he was a great boxer.
It wasnt that he took out Mccroy- its how he did it-text book counter hook that couldnt have been thrown any better.
I respect Mccallum. Great boxer but you know who was responsible for his career going the way it did? MIKE MCCALLUM.
They said he was a pain to deal with-always outpricing himself out of bouts. Jumping from trainer/manager.
Then he gets a showcase bout on HBO agaonst Mannion who was levels below Mike and what does Mike do? He stinks out the place.
When you want the kinda of money Mike wanted you have to dazzle/win in style and Mike blew it.
    Hagler stops Mccallum.

Hagler fan here, but there's nothing to suggest he stops McCallum. There's just no series of events that took place that would suggest such a thing.

Concur "Welter"....and he fired the Manager that made him a "great" welterweight.

Don WANTED to fight Hagler but that conniving snake in. the grass Leonard, who was at the time supposedly retired & acting as Don's advisor. He convinced Don to wait even though he was having difficulty making 147. All the time that POS was negociating with Hagler for himself. The rest is history. Would Don have beaten Hagler ?? Who knows but we know Leonard didn't legitimately beat him

Don should never have been in the ring with Honeyghan He'd got the flu & hadn't been able to train properly. Dave Gorman wanted to pull him out but Akbar Muhammad insisted. He was weak as a kitten from trying to sweat off the weight. $$$ was more important to them than Don;s health
