Lu Bin, Olympic Boxer from China is going to challenge for a world title on his second pro fight.

Bin, who is 23 years old, lost a controversial fight against a Kenyan boxer during the 2016 Olympics, now after winning his pro debut in 2017, he is going to face Carlos Cañizales from Venezuela for the WBA Light-flyweight Title, if he wins, he is going to break the record for less fights to win a title, Saensak Muangsurin and Vasyl Lomachenko are the owners of this record since they won their titles on their third fight.
Cañizales is undefeated with a 21-0-1 record with 16 wins by KO, he has a draw against Ryoichi Taguchi.

if he wins, is he as awesome as loma, or better cause he has less amateur experience? i would imagine all those people throwing lomas first title as proof of his greatness will be all over this guys nuts. or, is loma greater because he won titles in 3 divisions over a span of 9 fights? but then again, mikey won titles in 4 divisions in a span of 8 fights. naah, its the amazing way he makes most guys look foolish and makes them quit that makes him greater than those cats, except salido and linares of course, but we can overlook those fights.

 

Loma’s greatness causes acrimony it seems.

 

I'm quite excited about Cañizales vs. Lü - but woebegone is the poor soul that gets stuck with the RBR (whether it be @CST80, @Drinquor, @Boxing Prospect or myself) - both have diacritics in their last name, so to achieve maximum accuracy there will need to be a lot of ctrl+c and ctrl+v in each round post! (my usual trick, for any unaware, is to keep the longer/more difficult name or whichever has a diacritic on my clipboard and just keep pasting it throughout)

 

IMHO, this bout shouldn't be considered as world championship title match since Canizales is not the highest one in WBA light flyweight champion pecking order, thanks to their confusing "super-regular-interim" multiple titles nonsense. But it would be funny if the regular champion lost to #12 contender.

 

Why does a Chinese dude have an umlaut over his name? Is he a German/Hungarian national?

 

The ü character is pretty common in Mandarin transliterations into English, and is pronounced "yew".

So his name is pronounced Bin Leeoo, more or less.

 

I would keep both in the clipboard...such as "Lü Cañizales"...and then paste and delete the name I wanna get rid of

 

It’s a hard sound for English speakers to get right. My Chinese teacher had a ***** of a time teaching me it properly. It’s not really Leeoo, it’s closer to sounding like Louvre without the last three letters.

 

I read one guide that said to pronounce it like a double e but with your lips pursed as though shaped for a double u. Thats a decent explanation but still doesn't exactly capture how it sounds from native speakers. It really is difficult to explain in English.

 

Bin Lu is a great prospect. I think he will beat Canizales quite comfortably.
