No boxer shorter than 6 foot 4 inches would be favorite to beat modern super heavyweights

Lebedev would have been top 3 consistently had he competed at heavyweight.

Just wait till usyk is going to hw and you will see it for youself. He is bigger than Ali. Alot less bodyfat on him. And watercutting. Just compare pics of them.

We will see you have seen the pic of ALI 225lbs no fat, no peds,no weight training as in lifting weights. No water retention just good old big 6ft 3ish solid loose as goose natural large man muscle. Usyk will maybe get to Ali’s natural weight after doing all the above that’s why ALI is the bigger man , now do you see the difference?

Ali at 225 was noticeably smooth and fleshy.

Have you seen the pic of 201 lbs ali vs cooper in 66? No pre
day weigh in thus no water cutting? Its silly to even argue about 2 pounds... he would have made cruiser without a problem in his prime. 201 or 214 pounds.

Just compare with Guys of even lower weighs...

Ali didn't look flabby at 227 lbs at 29 to me.

I'll compare Usyk, since you seemed to be obsessed with cruiserweights.

Usyk at 208 lbs on fight night at 29 vs. Mchunu, who was 206 lbs.

The fact that cruiserweights are over 200 lbs on fight night shows how unnecessary the cruiserweight division is.

Jerry Quarry regularly weighed in under 200 lbs and didn't need a cruiserweight division to beat Stamford Harris 6'5" 230 or Ron Lyle 6'3" 219. If anything the smaller guys closer to his size gave him the most problems.

Yes, he was in decent shape, but he wasn't ripped to the bone (not that a boxer should ever really be that lean in the first place).

I'm a big fan of old-school physiques actually, but Ali was naturally a lean guy who was at his best around 210-215. He certainly wasn't any bigger, frame-wise, than Usyk going by their respective physiques on film.

I didn't say he looked flabby; I said he looked smooth and fleshy, meaning he wasn't super lean or muscular at that weight. Haye wasn't exactly out of shape at 225, or whatever he weighed in versus Bellew, but he was significantly smoother looking than the ripped to the bone version that used to fight at cruiser, and was slower as well.

Ali's sharpness at that weight wasn't a patch on his earlier iteration, and his movement was noticeably poorer. That in itself is telling.

Every fighter who fights in a weight division weighs more on the night than they do at the weigh in. I don't understand the point you're trying to make at all.

The CW division is set up to allow fighters around the 200 mark to operate on a level playing field. If it was removed then there'd a potential gap of 60lbs separating fighters at LHW from HWs. Since there are a number of athletes in between 175 and 220 (a smallish heavy or a large fight night cruiser), it's clearly a very necessary division to have to prevent mismatches.

Again, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. Are you saying that smaller fighters can beat bigger fighters? Of course they can. I won't argue with you there. How that relates to the abolition of an entire weight class is going over my head at the moment. Sorry.

CW was introduced to make money outta saps like you, and you fell for it hook line and sinker. HUck and Nelson are the most illustrious proponents of this sham. Work it out.

Why are people even arguing against Ali's own words? He said 6"2 and he was also measured for his passport... and he would have made cruiser during his prime.

Then they succeeded wonderfully. I can't think of another division with so many consistently exciting and competitive matchups, that demands so little of the patience of its fans.

Isn't this what all of us as boxing fans should hope for?
