No, he's aware of Wlad's superb footwork. What he means to say is that Wlad will use his footwork to keep at range, where he has a mechanical advantage over Ali, and avoid the clinch altogether.
Except Wlad is very conscious of the draining effect too much movement will have on his stamina therefore he won't ever stalk or pressure Ali.... Then there is the mental fatigue he will suffer from being totally unable to touch him with a meaningful punch. Wlad couldn't even beat Sleep doing a poor mans Ali impression ffs . He would haven't a prayer against the real version. Hilarious that people will still argue he could beat Ali even after his near shut out loss to Tyson Fury.
Any Ali up til maybe the one Holmes beat KTFO any Wlad in 5 rounds or less. It's one of those cases where the difference in levels quickly becomes apparent.
Ali would dance circles round Wlad yeah your right, but when he come in to range he would be met by a bigger stronger fast ko punching super heavy...But your right he would dance, he also danced a bit with Cooper Jones Frazier Norton Shavers etc and got dropped or took beatings with losses. Whats happening if you put Wlad in their place ??? All Wlad has to do to bring Ali on to him is relax and throw the jab, sooner or later Ali has to take chances. Watch Ali v Bugner who had no aggression but a lovely jab and height. Ali looks pathetic when he's not in control and out his comfort zone forcing a fight. One two grab, one two grab, and Wlad gets ripped for exactly the same lol....Difference is, Wlad has KO one two's and can land a hook off the jab that paralyses you. Ali has a nice hook too mind
I must be missing something cos I recall Ali beating Bugnor twice. I don't ever remember him looking pathetic or grabbing on after every punch he threw. Unless you're talking about the rematch when Ali was shot to bits? I haven't seen the rematch , but i did see the first fight and Ali fought whole rounds against Bugnor without clinching. Bugner gave Ali movement that Wlad wouldn't anyway so its a moot point. Wlad never moved consistently on the back foot like Joe did cos his legs and stamina wouldn't allow it. Wlads entire game was shutting a fight down to a pace he was comfortable with through illegal holding and leaning. He could never stick n move like Bugner did or box while moving backwards. Wlad simply cannot box effectively while on the move. That Joe Bunger of the Ali fight would cause Wlad serious problems now that you mention it. Furthermore , Cooper and Frazier fights are also irrelevant since both guys attacked Ali furiously like terriers and it was the relentless pressure that enabled them to get in those lefts hooks. Does Wlad attack like Cooper and Frazier?? Silly point to make. http://cdn0.vox-cdn.com/imported_assets/2167475/timed_hook_medium.gif Thats what Wlad looks like trying to hit a guy with a left hook who is using very basic upper body movement. Left hooks landed on David Haye ?? = zero. So how would he land on Ali?
Exactly. And that's why his footwork is so superb. Subtle, minute movements to maintain range without any undue movement. It's almost the polar opposite of Ali's flashy, energy intensive style of footwork, perfectly suited to Wlad's style and physical dimensions, as Ali's is to his. It'll be a masterclass in footwork from both parties, to be sure.
Speed advantage is with Ali and he'd have no problem getting off first on an upright target with no head movement. The speed of his jab alone would cause Wlad fits and blind him from the oncoming lighting fast right and and left hooks.

Wlad had great footwork and was very nimble for a 17 stone plus man, an athlete is how i'd describe or very athletic, it is not a mute point, and Ali wasn't shot to bits either
That's a great point. Even in the clinch Wlad is in the superior position. Ali will find it very difficult to contest with him on the inside as well as the outside.
