I think John has decent power and although maybe not one punch power he will have enough pop to wear opponents down.

    Hopefully that is the case.

Wonder what Matchroom's plans are with him. Is he based in Aberdeen? Can't see him selling any tickets, even if they do go back to Glasgow.

John is from Montrose but boxed out of the Byron Boxing Gym in Aberdeen, if Eddie wants to he can put him on my cards in Aberdeen to help build his fanbase ;-)

He is linking up with Tony Sims so he will be based in Essex during his camps at least.

i think the lad may struggle based on his lack of power but wish him well, Lewis Johnstone would be a much better prospect although I think he’s left the sporrt

I think his perceived lack of power might have come from him having to boil down to 75kg in the amateurs for tournaments for multiple days, that will be different now as he will only have to make weight once and that will more than likely be the day before so he will have plenty of time to re-hydrate.

great to see matchroom sign up a scottish prospect -- maybe even a nextgen show up here would work? there is a lot of decent talent out there even if no massive names (aside burns / taylor)

That's a good shout mate. Probably a lack of venues for that sort of small hall feel, in Edinburgh anyway. Where in Glasgow or Aberdeen could host something like that? All the small hall shows I see through west are at hotels which would be too small, or the Paisley Lagoon centre or whatever it's called.

could be the lagoon or bellahouston - something like that anyway

would be good for the scottish talent to be seen

hes held multiple scottish titles but I do think he could pick up more titles - Walsh, Tennyson and Giner are 3 good euro level figjters. He's in with a shout of a commonwealth/british title win/shot. you also criticised Flynn for his draws but they came from accidental headclashes.

What you’ve got to take into account is he will be get hit with much bigger guys than before, I’ve never know someone turning over and immediately moving up in weight, don’t understand that.
When Lewis Ritson came to train in Scotland he was a big welterweight, through training hard and dieting came down to lightweight and look how fantastically well he’s dine

Has John said he will be moving up when he fights professionally?

Yes mate Lewis has done brilliant but after seeing him in the gym I knew he would go on to big things! Just a shame he had to move away from your gym when he did.

I see Aston Brown is back in the ring in october -- only 2-0 as a pro and not active but was a top amateur. Remeber seeing him ko quite a few as an amateur so could make an impact

I think the Carling Academy in Glasgow would be great for such shows, would have perfect layout for boxing, be like a bigger version of York Hall (holds 2500).
