And Pianeta easily beat Duhaupas so he can't be as bad as Wilder. I'd probably rank Martin about five places higher than Wilder at the moment based on current form, two above Pianeta.

I find it very telling that even the loudest Fury proponents have quieted down completely after we know he's fighting guys like Seferi and Pianeta. Furys management knows he is in no shape to fight anyone inside the top 10.

    Uh, Fury fan here.

I am not sure what you mean by that at all. The man was nearly 400 pounds, clinically depressed, and using cocaine. Anyone who thought he was going to jump right back in the ring with Joshua is living in a fantasy world. His team was very open about the fact that they want 3-4 bums before anything, Briggs, Tarver, Charr, and eventually, after all of this, Joshua.

So Pianeta is a bit above where I thought he would be.

Cancer and tough fights have taken their toll, and I really wish Francesco would call it a day, but in the end, he was a title challenger with good wins over Duhaupas, Skelton, McCall and Botha. At 6'5" he is at least a full sized heavy. And, as noted, he has fought two of the best of the last 15 years in Wladdy and Chag.

I am hoping that, contingent upon this going well, they try to pay Oquendo some step-aside money and pick up the fight with Charr. If that is not feasible, there is Tarver, Briggs, and Sam Peter has made some noise about fighting Fury.

At this point, Fury is a prospect again. At 29 years old with 26 wins, 19 knock outs, a victory over a two-time champ with 23 defenses, and some good supporting wins over guys like Chisora, Hammer, Cunningham and Johnson, he is one hell of a prospect and I would not bet against him at all.

Look at the posts from 4-5 months ago. 3 out of 5 pro-Fury trolls were laying out the case how he's in the top 5 right now and should be considered for an instant title shot against AJ. They actually used the Vitali - Peter argument.

Now the reality seems a bit different and those 3 out of 5 guys delusional Fury fans have changed their tune or they simply don't have the balls how wrong they were on hoping their hero would return in top shape.

I see you belong to the group of fans who were more realistic and I have no problem with that. It was clear from the get-go that Fury would be back to being a fringe challenger who has to work up his way in a long and gruelling fashion. After all, he has to prove his seriousness after flunking out of two massive fights for no reason at all.

Pianeta is decent, but Fury should win easily.
I hope he looks better (and more focused) then in his last fight.

Pianeta just lost his last fight and lost horrible against some nobody. Commentators recommended he should retire and has no business being in the ring.

So yes, seems like he's the perfect handpicked opponent for Fury at this stage.

Good! Tyson needs to stay active, think the opponents will step up each time. Its a process

Get through this and hopefully get another fringe top20/30 guy around October.

I bet they told Tyson he’s fighting a piñata to get him to agree to the opponent.

When Vitali smiles, he’s just imitating other people in hopes of being treated normally.

This is what Vlad said about Pianeta - comedy genius.

"Francesco wasn't easy to box," "He punched with the hardest punches I've ever felt. Luckily, they didn't hit me"

how does one become morbidly obese while abusing a mountain of cocaine? probably the most impressive accomplishment the guy will ever have.
