Instead of defending the crown against Norton, Foreman defends against the Sanders who stopped Wladimir Klitchsko. Could Foreman cope with a hard punching southpaw fighter?

Sanders is dangerous, but George is a bad matchup for him in that he's durable and Sanders was a bit of a front-runner- moreso than George (who also managed his energy poorly in his younger days) IMO

It'll be a very entertaining scrap (like Lyle), but big George gets him out in the mid rounds. The one X factor is that young George didn't have exposure to southpaws, but i favor him nonetheless.

That straight left could have made George visit the deck. Foreman had a good chin, but not a Chuvalo tier chin. I think if Sanders had been as schooled as Moorer, he might have been able to pull this off. The reason I don't see Moorer himself beating prime Foreman is that he isn't durable enough

sanders would never get a shot at a title owning foreman.

However a young green foreman might face him during his first 20 fights on the way up, koing him in round 2 with ease.

thats the prime sanders, not the shot2shyte one that easily killed prime wlad in seconds.

foreman wouldnt give a title shot to a retiree, especially one who hadnt got a title shot in his prime, but if that wasnt enough, giving a title shot to someone who is barely matchfit for 5 rounds let alone 15 would have been unforgiveable and new champion foreman would have become a laughing stock.

Foreman would shake off Sanders best shots and stop him in 5.

heck of a fight. Wouldn't go more than a few rounds. I think George knocks him out in 3.

The Sanders that fought Wladimir would probably be in trouble, and I say this as a long time Sanders fan. Foreman was a crappy stylistic matchup for him primarily because of his great chin and energy. Sanders as he was winding up his career did not have the legs to box as he once did; he liked to blast guys out. That probably means he's getting into a war with a younger guy who was famous himself for his chin and hitting power. Could he win? With Sanders' power and accuracy I'd say he could win, but if I had to bet it would be on Foreman.

His younger, more mobile version I might fancy against Foreman. People forget how good a boxer and how mobile a prime Sanders was, probably because he pissed his prime away fighting second stringers. That version perhaps did not hit as hard as Old Sanders, but his stamina was good and his ability to box and use footwork was much better.

How does George's career go if this is a knock down drag out affair? Heavies get ruined pretty easy and this fight/Ali defeat/Lyle slugfest in like 2 years? I think Foreman is damaged goods or washed up/ruined like Lyle was > the Foreman bout. And a Sanders bout could turn into a brawl. Or, an ambush.

We the fans like the gunslinger heavyweight fights, but 2 or 3 of them in quick succession for a guy and it's all over.

The match is never made. A fight with Norton at the time was considered dangerous and a lot of folks were going with Kenny for the upset.

You'd have to favor George, but anything could happen. Corrie was actually about the same size as George and George was learning on the job and had pretty much no experience with southpaws. A lot of hevyweight punchers who turn pro before mastering boxing get exposed at some point--Foreman himself did against Ali. Corrie could definitely be that guy considering he threw straighter and faster punches than Foreman. At 34 with questionabke training, he didn't have the gas tank to go 12 anymore though.

Wlad was a better technical boxer and MAY have hit as hard as Foreman, but Sanders did manage to plow through him in a manner that I don't think he would have if he hadn't been a southpaw

Exactly. Wlad was way more polished than Foreman and he couldn't deal with Sanders, so it's anyone's guess what would happen with Foreman. Foreman was fortunate enough to fight in a time when everyone was smaller than him, allowing him to hide his flaws.

Corrie Sanders has a punchers chance against anyone. He was a big boy, southpaw, fast hands & power. If I had to hold anything against him it would be his lack of serious training somewhat like Buster Douglas
