John Molina softened up Matthysse for Provodnikov to polish off.

And Matthysse softened up Ruslan for Molina to polish off.

Absolutely. Molina Jr. took everything out of LMM, Provodnikov nearly exposed him and Postol then was the finisher of his career. He really should have had call it a career after the Postol loss.

Let's be real though. Matthyse was still solid against Postol. It wasn't until the fight against the Thai that he looked completely shot. He was losing lol and that thai fighter probably took a dive. He could've won. What do you think of a Pac/Horn rematch though? Do you think Crawford took too much out of Horn?

Arguably he wasn't the same after the DSG fight. Brutal, brutal fight.

The circle of [cannibalistic] life that is our beloved [if senselessly cruel and unforgiving] sport.

Damnit, the biggest drug cheat in the sport won last night. The sport remains a cesspool of dirty corruption!

Funny you should say that when I've seen you try to diminish Floyd (#1 boxer of this era, one of the greatest fighters to ever exist)'s accomplishments LOL. That same guy who beat your guy up in 2015.

Not really, he looked a shot shell for the majority of that one, he barely won a round, and seemed fragile, the only two times he fought after the Postol fight was against Taylor and Kiram, and he didn't look spectacular against either. So let's do the math, he looked like hell against his last 4 opponents, which came after the Provodnikov match, which Lucas started off well in, but absorbed a shitton of damage in the second half... barely winning it. Molina set him on the course to being shot, and Ruslan finished him off, like with Maravilla, Postol just happened to be Matthysse's Cotto.

There was no fix IMO, its very simple, Manny played the role of the counter puncher and controlled the range exquisitely, Matthysse couldn't find the proper range and ate counters repeatedly, until he became discouraged and eventually demoralized and quit.

Man, Matthyse/Ruslan was a hell of a fight. Matthyse gave us some great fights. Shame that Postol had to put an end to it.
