If a cruiserweight like Charles could carve up Marcianos face, then it is scary what Ali would do, fleet of foot and fast of hand, a bloodbath for sure.

When Nature calls, Rocky Marciano hung up the phone.

Death once had a near Rocky Marciano experience.

The flu has to get Rocky Marciano shots once a year.

When Rocky Marciano sliced onions, onions cried.

While learning CPR, Rocky Marciano brought the dummy to life.

Rocky Marciano could turn a hamburger back into a cow.

When the boogey-man goes to bed at night, he checks for Rocky Marciano.

Correcting an error in the first post-it was young Foreman that fought Peralta, who was retired for 15 years when Foreman came back at 38-oddly enough the age of Peralta when he retired.

Whoa hold on a minute! Jess Willard was a steamboat captain just like Lee Savold was?
    Amazing!

All of my original points have been made by 2 people in particular on here.
I won't name them but as of yet, both have avoided this thread.
You are realistic with your appraisal of Marciano.
    Others are not.

Having a 68" reach is a big advantage.

If your 40 or older and have been a fan of boxing your used to Marciano walking on water. Comes from the general sports fan who perhaps had a dad who idolized him.

I dont lose any sleep over who somebody else picks in a fight that will never happen.

No point.I don't get arsed about it unless someone one is deliberately misrepresenting the facts or blatantly telling lies.

In all seriousness though, Marciano was a fine fighter who is a handful for anyone remotely in his weight class. He seems to almost be blamed at times for the very things the Old White Guy Brigade bring out as supposed proof he was the best or unbeatable. He was neither of those things, but that didn't mean he sucked either. That's the problem with so many arguments about boxing, it turns into this zero-sum game that just gets ridiculous.

It's a natural reaction to him being so absurdly over hyped, some of us get pissed off with it after a time..

Totally understand, I'm guilty of it too. We all are from time to time. Not a judgement. It seems we as fans try to combat the ridiculous with more ridiculous, as though that were the only currency available.
