yea yea sure. I remember when Wlad was on top of the game, it was 2003.. Jim Lampley was creaming his pants about Klitschko, everyone was talking about him facing Lennox Lewis next, just how everyone wants Joshua to face Wilder... but Klitschko's manager thought they should take another fight... hahah remember that??? and as soon as the Corrie Sanders fight was announced, all the fans became enraged, saying WTF? Why is he fighting a 37 year old Golfer who's retired?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Everyone was saying this fight was a farce!! coincidentally Klitschko was 27 years old like Joshua is today ahahahahah... ANyways Wlad didn't train for the fight, he was on cloud 9 from all the attention he was getting, sponsorship with HUGO BOSS, FILA, Just like Joshua with Under Armour.... And then guess what happened??? well, I don't know how old u r, but you can google that fight and see what happened with Wlad!!

I think Povetkin will be in severe trouble, in his last fight he looked very stationary and if **** tier David Price can land right hands on him so can AJ. I expect AJ to close the fight before round 6.

I must have missed Joshua ducking Ortiz, when did he drop/vacate his belt to avoid him? Because I honestly can't remember AJ vacating to avoid Ortiz, I must have memory loss.

Right so Tyson for example didn't go overseas until his 7th defence because it was more lucrative for him to stay in the US, exactly the same can be said for Joshua, fan base, sponsorship, PPV's.. it's all better for AJ in the UK.

Right now the UK is where the money is, especially with Hearn and the DAZN deal, right now the UK is the Mecca of boxing.

It really is, take away Canelo (who is Mexican) and you tell me a bigger star in boxing in the US (PPV's, numbers and all that) than Joshua?

And yes 21 fights is important, very important, I would understand if AJ had 30+ fights and had defended 10+ times and was insisting on not going abroad but that just isn't the case, he has 3 (plus the IBO) out of the 4 main belts, so he calls the shots, he is the champion.

Challengers should challenge, British fighters have had to travel in the past because they were the so called "B-Side", they wasn't the draw, they wasn't the money and British boxers and fans accepted it.

Well in this case AJ is the draw, the money and the champion and regarded as Number 1 so Wilder will have to travel.

It amazes me how the goal posts move when it comes to US fighters, when they hold all the cards it's non negotiable but when a British does then it's still down to the British fighter to make sacrifices.

Personally I don't believe either side, they have both stretched the truth, both have spun, both have been tricky.

But if the 50 million was real then that's what? 2-3 times AJ's best purse?

Well the 15 million offered to Wilder was 10-15 times his biggest purse so who really turned down the better offer for them personally?

AJ will earn 50 million is maybe 3 fights? Wilder will earn 15 million in what? around 8-10 fights..

So Wilder needs to move, Wilder needs to accept he is basically the challenger, Wilder needs to make the sacrifices.

Joshua has had unification fights (only had 21 fights).. how many unification fights has Wilder had in 40 fights YES 40 FIGHTS ? How much work has he actually done?

Wilder hasn't done enough, hasn't sacrificed enough, he has just shouted, screamed and whined like a little female dog about negotiations breaking down, he has embarrassed himself.

Now he is fighting Breazeale for a couple of million at most, brilliant business move, superb, a truly amazing decision.. afterwards probably a rematch with 98 year old Ortiz for a couple of million.

AJ will fight Povetkin and assuming he wins, maybe Whyte is a huge domestic fight, maybe even Fury in a monster PPV fight.. plenty of money, plenty of interest.

Joshua doesn't need Wilder to earn huge money but Wilder needs AJ to earn huge money so who should be making the moves and sacrificing?

Yeah, that claim has stumped me.

I don't remember the Ortiz mandatory being called, he might have been number 1 but that isn't the same as a mandatory actually being called.

Yeah, that's how I remember it, Ortiz had two fights with Hearn, was on the verge of signing for AJ and went and signed with Haymon.

I can't see that as a duck, I don't know how anybody can call that a duck, you sign for Wilder and then get named mandatory for AJ afterwards and apparently it's AJ's fault the fight didn't happen.

I'm all for slaughtering fighters who duck but that's a seriously long stretch of the truth.

    It's all relative.

Let's say the 50 million was legit, it may well have been, probably was.. AJ will earn that in 2-3 fights depending who he fights.

The 15 million offered to Wilder, Wilder will have to fight probably 8-10 times to earn that, maybe less if he fought a Fury or even a Whyte (who he refused to fight for 5-6 million).

Hmmm good question, Did Wilder duck Whyte then?

He was offered a career high payday and turned it down, refused to travel because he was the champion.. a very clear career high payday and then refused to travel because he said he was the champion.

Sounds rather similar to what your saying about AJ, wouldn't you agree?

If you think this fight is a joke, surely you would have come to the same conclusion if Joshua was to fight Ortiz?

I mean, they’re of a similar age, and both have shady pasts with peds. The one thing that separates them is that Povetkin is better by all accounts.

OP's previous strategy of predicting a win for Joshua opponents has failed miserably https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/will-you-rejoice-when-parker-slays-joshua.599543/

, so he's now trying this new tactic of rubbishing the opposition so that he can discredit Joshua whatever the outcome. Predictable and desperate nonsense, conveniently overlooking the fact Povetkin is a mandatory challenger and consensus top 5 heavyweight.

As for the Wilder situation, here's a reminder of the OP's views on Deontay himself...

Povetkin will KO Joshua, some handpicked bum will KO Wilder. They'll both be crying that they didn't make the fight soon enough.

It just shows the level Joshua is at when a quality opponent like Povetkin is expected to do no better than a guy like Dave Allen.

Povetkin would be the best opponent on Wilders record and if he was to fight him it would be a huge step-up in class with many likely predicting Pov to win by brutal knockout.

But Joshua vs Povetkin is such a mismatch it doesn't even deserve any air time according to this thread. All this thread proves is how great Anthony Joshua is.

This. A skilled vet like Povetkin, who also has power has a good chance. Just like Povetkin's age can work against him Joshua's inexperience can and has worked against Joshua as well. Joshua doesn't exactly have a great jab or uppercut and his defense has a lot of holes. Takam exposed that Joshua's punches are very wide and he tends to leave his body wide open, but Takam lacked the power to make Joshua pay for it. If Joshua leaves his body exposed like that against Povetkin and drops in hands in Povetkin's range like he was constantly doing against Takam and Parker its going to be a very long night for Joshua.

I don't think I've ever seen someone who is surely at worst top 5 in a division given such little chance against a fighter who has at times looked as vulnerable as AJ has.

Yep being number 1 isn't the same as being mandatory, hence why when Ortiz was the top ranked WBA heavy he was ordered to fight an eliminator with Ustinov for the mandatory spot but ducked out of that fight both times. He could have been the confirmed WBA mandatory a whole year sooner but clearly didn't want it, he's cherry picked his way to a title shot just like Wilder.

People need to remember Ortiz has been a pro for 8 years. People criticised Wilder for his slow progress and not stepping up but Ortiz too just like Wilder wasted many years of his prime beating up journeymen and refusing to step up in class. Took Ortiz almost 6 years before fighting a contender in Jennings and only did so against one coming off a loss who isn't a puncher and then 8 years before his first title shot.

People talk about Ortiz being avoided but conveniently forget he's not been chasing hard fights himself and ducked out of mandated fights when it suited him too.

How many times does this need repeating. AJ and his slave master was going to appeal for a special permit to be issued, so he wouldn't lose the belts whilst being able to avoid the mandatory defense. Ortiz couldn't put his career on hold any longer and decided to take the route for the WBC belt against Wilder. Ortiz begged Joshua to honor the obligation, the WBA issued a statement advising he had 120 days to defend against Ortiz. Instead Eddie went straight to Pulev and begged him to fight Joshua.

You conveniently missed the part where I mentioned that fact that most if not all of his opponents during that time peroid were from the United States so he had no reason to go overseas. It's not exactly as if he was offered to fight someone from abroad for 50 million and he turned it down to fight a lesser opponent.

This is just sad that those words have come out of your mouth. You've been brainwashed by Eddie. How on earth can the uk be the place to be when the US fighters across all the divisions are earning more than most of the british fighters? Do you think Saunders is earning more than the likes of Canelo or GGG? What about Brook?

Matchroom has done a number on you to the point where you are now talking like a casual, which is very sad I must say since I know you are usually a credible poster. When it comes to AJ all sense and perspective seems to fly out of the window and you start singing from the matchroom hymn sheet.

The only fighter from the uk that is earning more than the US fighters is AJ and Hearn has got people of your ilk to equate that to mean that british boxing is doing better figures than the US.

Who in Britain has earned 300 million in one fight? Or 120 million for that matter?

''Britain the mecca of boxing'' Ridiculous!

We're talking across the board not one fighter who is more of a brand that is sold out 1-2 times a year, than an actual out and out boxer. Tell us who else from the rest of the divisions in the uk that are earning more than top stars in the same respective division?

He is entitled to call the shots just as much as we are entitled to call him out on his ducking when he is blatantly slithering around terms in order to avoid rivals who pose threats. No other HW champion has come out and made so many excuses as to why they don't feel comfortable fighting outside of their own country and being afraid of an opponent.

Put aside this a-side/b-side nonsense and lets look at the cold hard facts in a business sense. If you are offered 50 million guaranteed for one fight, win lose or draw, would you or any reasonable person be so pig headed and turn it down on the basis that you want to fight in front of your fans to give back to give back to them? Is that really a reasonable alibi? This from a man who didn't give a damn about his own son until the media hounded to go take him out of a bedsit and we're meant to believe he's turning down that payday because he wants the fight to be in front of a few thousand sheeple?

I promise you if Wilder was rejecting obsence offers and coming out with excuses and blatant ducking quotes, I'd be calling him a coward because it's not up for debate. This is ducking 101 and still the legions of cheerleaders still find a way to twist things and make out as if there is a complex obsecurity as to why the fight isn't happening. Joshua, Eddie and his ******* father have come out and said in more or less uncertain terms that they feel they are not ready for Wilder.

Wilder has never come out and said he's afriad of leaving the U.S, or he is afraid that he will sell his belts if he was to agree to a record breaking offer.

Of course you won't believe it because it's convenient for you to play dumb and pretend there is obscurity surrounding the offers presented to each party. We know for fact that your boy said straight directly to the camera's that he would accept 50 million the next day without question, naively and arrogantly assuming that Wilder and his team couldn't or wouldn't possibly come up with a ridiculous fee.

He then called their bluff and they went backtracking talking about selling souls to devils and doing fights for the fans. Had Wilder pulled such a cowardly stunt, this entire forum would have been overloaded with threads abusing and insulting Wilder and rightly so.

So what! Anything can happen in life and there's no guarantee something tragic couldn't have to either fighter before they earn the same equivalent of that astronomical deal. Regardless, Does the amount a fighter earns mean more than an actual fight happening between two of the top fighters of a division? You seem pleased that AJ can earn the same fighting dubs just so he doesn't have to face Wilder. That seems to be the consistent theme amongst his legion of followers. They don't want to see him tested, they are just happy to watch him tear through old men so they can say Britain has a HW champion.

You forget that Wilder has the WBC belt one of the most legendary belts in the sport. If you think that has no value then you need to learn your boxing history.

Wilder doesn't have the entire country behind him and he has had bad luck with fighters failing drug tests. You have povetkin, Ortiz and Tyson Fury who he wanted to fight and they all failed drug tests at the time of negotitations. You can't fault the opponent for a fighter deciding to take peds. Just like you can't blame GGG for having to fight that bum because Canelo got banned. It's moronic.

Hes champion and has something Joshua needs if he really cares about legacy. However listening to you, it sounds like its more about milking his boxing career whilst taking minimal risk

Blame AJ turning down 50 million for that joke fight happening.

No one in business is going to accept crumbs when the estimated value of the fight is worth near 100 million. It takes two to make the fight happen.

It won't be long before the British public begin getting fed up of watching Joshua tear through old and short men who they have barely heard of, with Johnny Nelson and Adam Smith having to present personal dossiers on who Joshua's opponents are.

Wilder is an attraction whether you like it or not

1- He is exciting and explosive in the ring,

2 - He is a great trash talker with personality and has legions of haters who tune in with the hope of seeing him lose.

3 - He holds the legendary WBC belt.
