Hearn is a total flop. The DAZN WBSS Deal massively outshined his

The key is the stable.. Hearns best bet in the bunch (Non-Joshua) would probably be Beterbiev unifying.. If Jacobs get the IBF then that would set up a great fight between he and andrade imo..

But Schaefer needs the fighters and I think he only has Abner.. He would have to convince fighters that he can repeat his success he had at Golden Boy when he was CEO which is hard to do post Floyd.. All the young guys feel they can promote themselves

Some people dislike or even hate Hearn, some of the criticism above seems a little overblown. Consider how a service like Netflix started out. You don't start day one with all the best content, you build and as you gain subscribers you increase the amount spent on content. You also have a mix of bought in and self produced content.

For launch there's a mixture of established and up and coming, not the biggest names in US boxing, but they're always likely to either be under contract or wary of tieing themselves to a startup. After all, they have lots of options and some of them will have PPV hopes down the line.

Hearn has some interesting fighters, enough with his uk stable to put together a card that will entertain. He will look to build and deploy some of his budget to bring in bigger us names for headline grabbing contests against his house fighters, but that will likely come after the first month.

We still don't know what other sports rights they have? Regardless, WBSS is the best outside content they could've bought in for hardcore boxing fans. If they're the home for that, U.K. Matchroom output and good, competitive fights, even if not the highest profile ones, then that first free month and 9.99 afterwards may work out.

I will say this, there are people who are super confident about their ability but if they fail to do what they wanted they are in shambles.

Vargas, Andrade and Roman will not do good viewing numbers, come on. But on the upside this deal is good for their careers in a way.

This. DAZN does not live or die because of boxing.

Yeah, DAZN has agreed some other great deals for their platform, so boxing is the small part of the whole platform.

You're absolutely right, my maths was utter dogsheet there. I did $10 per year instead of per month. Idiotic mistake on my part :S Gonna correct it now.

Even so, 1mn subscribers per month, every month for 8 years just to cover the money paid to Eddie Hearn is never gonna happen. They then need more subscribers to cover every other content provider. Then they need to cover their costs as a business and hope to make some profit on top.

Long story short, there never was a billion for Hearn and there never will be. He's the same scrub he was before this "historic" deal.

I see what you mean, but i get the impression Hearn has much less money than Showtime. Also, I imagine Haymon could just do a deal direct with DAZN as Hearn brings nothing to the table and it seems he doesn't have an exclusive boxing deal with DAZN either.

    Agree.
But they will only have to cover what they spend. DAZN's current crop should not be expensive. The Billion will always be on the table, as long as they can get the subscribers.

Eddie is a good promoter, he will figure things out. Just how big DAZN will be, who knows? Can it surpass HBO and SHO? Maybe(their content has been weak lately). Can it be this 1Billion mega Goliath? Not anytime soon.

Or will it be just above ESPN's FNF?
Eddie has a lot of work cut out for him, best of luck.

As far as I know Eddie has no understanding of what US viewers want. Vargas, Roman, Andrade, Beterbiev, Bivol and some 10 journeyman, really? These fighters are not bad fighters but they won't give DAZN the viewing numbers they crave. Vargas was never a PPV star or Andrade. Andrade is one of the most unwatchable fighters I have come across. Beterbiev would have chance if he would be 5 years younger. As for Bivol the nubers he generated are nowhere near numbers needed to keep DAZN viewers on their seats.

Eddie clearly knows what the U.S. fans want, he went after Garcia and others. It just that it proved harder than he expected.
Viewers want good fights and excitement. This he knows how to deliver. He knows who can sell and he knows how to guide them. (Jacobs has gotten a lot more exposure now than he did before)

Hearn will likely start stacking cards. This worked wonders for SHO back in 2012/13. (And right now it´s his only move)

WTF is your point? I already said DAZN did better deals than the BS one with Hearn. Hearn is a total flop and that's why DAZN is already looking elsewhere for bigger and better boxing content than little Eddie Hearn.

Eddie Hearn at the original press conference said DAZN would be showing boxing other than matchroom events.
